Global gold prices experienced a turbulent week, with prices repeatedly rising sharply and then undergoing deep corrections, reflecting the unstable sentiment of investors in the face of a series of hot news related to geopolitics and US monetary policy.
At the beginning of the week, spot gold prices started at $4,529.89 per ounce. News of the US Department of Justice suing the Fed quickly pushed gold prices sharply higher, surpassing $4,590 per ounce and approaching $4,600 per ounce in a short time. During the second trading session, gold prices fluctuated significantly with several consecutive increases and decreases, at one point climbing close to $4,630 per ounce.
During the midweek sessions, from Tuesday to Wednesday, gold prices remained high. The market saw fluctuations mainly between $4,580 and $4,630 per ounce, before strong buying pressure on Wednesday afternoon pushed gold prices to a weekly high of $4,640 per ounce.
On the fifth trading day, profit-taking pressure caused gold prices to correct downwards, but they still held above the crucial support level of $4,580 per ounce. The market then entered a sideways trading phase, with gold prices fluctuating within a narrow range of $4,585 – $4,620 per ounce.
The drama intensified on Friday morning when gold prices unexpectedly plummeted to $4,536 per ounce. However, the decline was short-lived as buying pressure quickly returned, helping gold prices recover to near $4,600 per ounce and remain stable until the close of the trading week.
