World gold prices today, January 30, 2026
According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 4:00 AM on January 30, 2026 (Vietnam time) was $5182.22 per ounce. The world gold price decreased by $96.72 per ounce compared to yesterday. Converted using the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,200 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately VND 161.53 million per tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is currently VND 28.06 million per tael higher than the international gold price.

At approximately 10:30 PM on January 29th (Vietnam time), the global gold market unexpectedly witnessed a rare and sharp drop, with prices falling by more than $300 per ounce in a single evening session. Data from Kitco shows that the spot gold price plummeted rapidly from around $5,300 per ounce at 10:26 PM to approximately $5,182 per ounce at 10:30 PM, equivalent to a drop of nearly $150 in just a few minutes.
Prior to the correction, world gold prices were trading steadily around $5,500 per ounce. The sharp drop of nearly $400 per ounce in a very short time indicates that strong profit-taking pressure has erupted, especially from short-term speculative capital after a prolonged period of rapid price increases.
Despite the sharp drop, gold prices experienced a technical rebound, fluctuating in the 5,100–5,200 USD/ounce range, significantly lower than the previous level. This is considered the strongest correction in global gold prices in several weeks, reflecting increased caution as investors begin to realize profits after a series of consecutive record highs.
This development also indicates that the gold market is entering a highly volatile phase, where rallies can be quickly followed by sharp corrections. Given that gold has risen too rapidly in a short period, the risk of significant volatility is considered likely to continue, especially as short-term capital flows dominate the market.
Silver price today, January 30, 2026
Domestic silver prices on January 30th continued to hover at historical highs, despite a slight correction after a series of consecutive sharp increases. The current price level remains significantly higher than last week, reflecting the strong upward trend of global silver prices.
This development indicates that short-term profit-taking has emerged after a period of sharp increases, but the overall trend for silver is still considered positive in the medium term. Silver prices are being supported by industrial demand, safe-haven flows, and the gold/silver ratio continuing to narrow rapidly.
The price of Phu Quy 999 silver bars (1 tael) today is listed at 4.39-4.53 million VND/tael, a difference of 136,000 VND/tael. Compared to yesterday, the price increased by 212,000 VND/tael for buying and 219,000 VND/tael for selling.
The price of Phu Quy 999 silver bars (10 taels, 5 taels) was also adjusted upwards to 4.39-4.53 million VND/tael, an increase of 212,000 VND/tael for buying and 219,000 VND/tael for selling compared to the previous session.
The price of Phu Quy 999 sterling silver is currently listed at 4.39-5.17 million VND/ounce, a difference of 776,000 VND/ounce. Compared to yesterday, the price increased by 212,000 VND/ounce for buying and 250,000 VND/ounce for selling.
In the larger segment, the price of Phu Quy 999 silver bars (1kg) is trading around 117.20-120.83 million VND/kg, an increase of approximately 5.65 million VND/kg in the buying price and nearly 5.84 million VND/kg in the selling price compared to January 29th.
The price of 999 sterling silver of other brands, for quantities over 1,500 taels, is currently at 3.83-4.39 million VND/tael, an increase of 184,930 VND/tael for buying and 212,000 VND/tael for selling compared to yesterday.
The price of silver under 1,500 taels also increased sharply to 3.72-4.39 million VND/tael, 180,000 VND/tael higher for buying and 212,000 VND/tael higher for selling.

Global silver prices plummeted sharply in Thursday's trading session as a wave of profit-taking emerged after an unprecedented surge.
Spot silver prices fell by as much as 3.85%, to $112.07 per ounce, after having just set a historical high of $121.64 per ounce in the previous session. The correction occurred as investors rushed to realize profits after silver rose too quickly in a short period.

Despite a sharp drop during the session, silver prices are still on track to record their strongest monthly gain in decades. Year-to-date, silver prices have risen by more than 50%, significantly outperforming gold and most traditional investment channels. The main drivers are a persistent supply shortage, strong industrial demand – particularly in the renewable energy sector – and speculative capital flowing in to support the rally.
According to analysts, the relatively small size of the silver market makes prices highly volatile when speculative capital flows in. Guy Wolf, Head of Global Market Analysis at Marex, believes that silver prices are becoming a target for highly speculative capital flows, causing prices to at times "completely detach from the physical supply and demand basis." This makes sharp corrections like the current ones unavoidable.
Besides technical factors, market sentiment is also influenced by monetary policy and the geopolitical context. The Federal Reserve's continued maintenance of interest rates, along with expectations of a rate cut in mid-year, remains a long-term support factor for precious metals. However, with silver prices having risen too rapidly in a short period, short-term profit-taking pressure is outweighing fundamental support factors.
In the medium term, many experts still believe that the trend for silver is not over, but the risk of significant volatility will continue to exist. Investors are advised to be cautious about "buying at the peak" driven by FOMO (fear of missing out), as silver prices may still experience major fluctuations before establishing a new, more stable price level.
