In parallel with price management, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a document on April 20th to the People's Committees of provinces and cities and the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, requesting a comprehensive inspection of all petroleum distributors nationwide. The goal is to ensure supply, prevent shortages, and promptly address acts of speculation, hoarding, smuggling, and profiteering that disrupt the market.
The inspection will focus on compliance with regulations on mandatory fuel reserves from January 1, 2026, to the time of inspection, and the maintenance of business conditions as stated in valid certificates. All inspections must be completed before May 30, 2026. Local Departments of Industry and Trade will compile the results and report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade before June 6, 2026.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade's list of petroleum distributors proposed for inspection includes nearly 200 businesses in 27 provinces and cities nationwide. Ho Chi Minh City has the highest number of businesses to be inspected with 45 units, followed by Hanoi with 14 businesses, along with many other provinces and cities from North to South.
