Fuel prices dropped sharply in the December 25th price adjustment.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance have just announced an adjustment to retail gasoline prices, effective from 3:00 PM this afternoon (December 25th). Specifically, the price of RON95-III gasoline officially dropped to 19,000 VND/liter after a sharp reduction of 620 VND/liter.

Gasoline prices fell across the board, while fuel oil prices bucked the trend.

During this price adjustment period, the market witnessed significant downward adjustments in most key fuel commodities, with the exception of Mazut oil. Specifically:

RON95-III gasoline: The sharpest price drop, at 620 VND/liter, bringing the selling price down to 19,000 VND/liter.

E10 and E5RON92 gasoline: Prices decreased by 540 VND and 520 VND per liter respectively, bringing the new prices to 18,870 VND/liter and 18,710 VND/liter.

Diesel and kerosene group: Seemed a slightly smaller decrease, ranging from 220 to 230 VND per liter/kg.

Fuel oil 3.5S: This was the only item to increase in price during this period, rising by 220 VND/kg to settle at 13,380 VND/kg.

A total of 53 operational meetings were held in 2025.

The price adjustment on December 25th also marked the 53rd time this year that petroleum products have experienced price fluctuations. Looking back at historical data for 2025, we can see a fierce tug-of-war between price increases and decreases:

RON95 gasoline: Recorded 26 price increases and 27 price decreases.

E5RON92 gasoline: Recorded 25 price increases and 28 price decreases.

Diesel fuel: There were 24 price increases, 28 price decreases, and one instance where the price remained unchanged.

The sharp drop in fuel prices during the price adjustment period at the end of December is expected to alleviate pressure on transportation and logistics costs, contributing to price stabilization of goods during the peak shopping season at the end of the year.
