The unfinished dream of former midfielder Song Lam Nghe An

At the Song Lam Nghe An training center, Nguyen Van Duc belonged to the 1998 generation with Nguyen Ba Duc, later joined by Tran Dinh Tien from the Viettel Youth Football Training Center. Not only did they have poor results in youth tournaments such as U15, U17, U19 or U21 National, but the 1998 generation also failed to produce many outstanding players. Defender Nguyen Ba Duc and midfielder Nguyen Van Duc were two exceptions that left deep impressions on Nghe An football fans.

Nguyen Van Duc himself was once considered one of the brightest talents of the Song Lam Nghe An training center. With a solid technical foundation, sharp tactical vision, and a gentle, flexible, and delicate playing style, the player from Quynh Luu was nicknamed Duc "Ozil".

At the 2017 National U21 Tournament, Nguyen Van Duc played quite well in the central midfielder position, alongside his senior Bui Dinh Chau. The 3rd place finish of U21 Song Lam Nghe An at the tournament held at Binh Duong Stadium (Binh Duong Province) was largely due to Nguyen Van Duc.

However, various injuries have made Nguyen Van Duc's football career path full of obstacles. It was not until the 2021 season that Duc "Ozil" was promoted to play for the first team by Song Lam Nghe An. Unfortunately, Nguyen Van Duc often had to be on the bench or in the medical room.

After more than a year of struggling with a torn knee ligament injury, at the end of 2022, Nguyen Van Duc decided to retire from football at the age of 24. Currently, the former Song Lam Nghe An player is in charge of coaching at a community football center located in Vinh city.

Mentioning Duc "Ozil", Nghe An football fans will not help but feel regretful. A talented player, a bright star of the training centerLam River Nghe An, but had to say goodbye to his "shorts and shirt" career because he was too sensitive to injuries.
