The unfulfilled dream of the former Song Lam Nghe An midfielder.

At the Song Lam Nghe An training academy, Nguyen Van Duc belonged to the 1998 generation along with Nguyen Ba Duc, and later joined by Tran Dinh Tien from the Viettel Youth Football Training Center. Not only did they have poor results in youth tournaments such as the U15, U17, U19, and U21 national championships, but the 1998 generation also failed to produce many outstanding players. Defender Nguyen Ba Duc and midfielder Nguyen Van Duc were two exceptions, leaving a strong impression on Nghe An football fans.

Nguyen Van Duc, in particular, was once considered one of the brightest talents from the Song Lam Nghe An youth academy. With his skillful technique, sharp tactical vision, and graceful, fluid, and refined playing style, the player from Quynh Luu was nicknamed Duc "Ozil".

At the 2017 National U21 Championship, Nguyen Van Duc performed exceptionally well as a central midfielder, alongside his senior teammate Bui Dinh Chau. Nguyen Van Duc played a significant role in U21 Song Lam Nghe An's third-place finish at the tournament held at Binh Duong Stadium (Binh Duong province).

However, various injuries have hampered Nguyen Van Duc's football career. It wasn't until the 2021 season that Duc "Ozil" was promoted to the first team of Song Lam Nghe An. Unfortunately, Nguyen Van Duc often found himself on the bench or in the medical room.

After battling a torn knee ligament injury for over a year, Nguyen Van Duc decided to retire from football at the age of 24 in late 2022. Currently, the former Song Lam Nghe An player is coaching at a community football center in Vinh City.
