Upon receiving the report, the Hau Giang Provincial Police proactively coordinated with the professional departments of the Ministry of Public Security, the police forces of Can Tho, Vinh Long, Dong Thap provinces... and Ho Chi Minh City to solve the case.

Simultaneously, nearly 100 officers and soldiers were mobilized, divided into multiple task forces to track down the victim and verify their personal relationships, while simultaneously implementing various investigative measures.

By 4 PM the same day, the police identified the two masterminds as two brothers: Nguyen Huu Nghia (born in 1977) and Nguyen Thanh Nguyen (born in 1987) - both residing in An Nhon commune, Chau Thanh district, Dong Thap province. Both were hiding in Vinh Long province.

At 0:10 AM on May 12th, the police arrested Nghia in Luc Sy Thanh commune, Tra On district (Vinh Long province). During a quick interrogation, Nghia confessed that the location where he held the victim captive was a house in Tan Hung hamlet (Tan Hanh commune, Long Ho district, Vinh Long province).

At 00:40 on May 12th, reconnaissance teams approached, surrounded the area, and implemented a plan to rescue the hostages.

Despite appeals from authorities to persuade the suspect to surrender his weapon in order to receive leniency, Nguyen remained defiant and threatened to kill the hostages.

At 3:20 AM, taking advantage of the suspect's momentary lapse of vigilance, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Minh Tho - Head of the Criminal Police Department of Hau Giang Provincial Police, along with other detectives, stormed in, subdued Nguyen, and safely rescued the hostage.

By 6:00 AM on May 13th, the detectives had apprehended the accomplices, including Nguyen Quoc Thanh (born in 1987, residing in Phu Thu Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City) and Ly Minh Chanh (born in 1978, a homeless person), while they were hiding in Can Tho City and Dong Nai Province.

At the police station, the group confessed that due to drug addiction and lack of money, they saw that Mr. C. was the deputy director of the company and came from a well-off family, so they conspired to kidnap him for ransom.

First, the group used forged documents to rent a house in Long Ho district (Vinh Long province). Then, on May 9th, they continued to use forged documents to rent another house in Tan Phu Thanh residential area (Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province) and contacted Mr. C. to come and sign a contract for interior decoration.

At 3 PM on May 10th, when Mr. C. arrived at the rented house in Hau Giang province, they used pepper spray to subdue him, stole all his belongings, and forced him into a car to take him back to their rented house in Vinh Long province.

On the morning of May 11th, the kidnappers used Mr. C.'s mobile phone and social media to contact his family multiple times, demanding a ransom of 10 billion VND.
