The family of Mr. Truong Van Trinh in Nam Long hamlet, Nghia Long commune (Nghia Dan district) has implemented a model of raising pigs on biological bedding, starting from renovating existing pigpens. Mr. Truong Van Trinh, from Nam Long hamlet, said: “Our family's pig farming model has been in operation for over 4 months, with 9 sows and over 100 fattening pigs. We find that it doesn't take much time to clean the pens, there is no longer environmental pollution, and the pigs are less prone to disease.”

Treating pig pens with biological bedding is not difficult. For a pen of about 20m2, you need 50 bags of rice husks and 30 bags of sawdust, about 2 kg of bran and 2 kg of biological enzymes to create a 60cm thick bedding layer. The investment cost is about 70-75 thousand VND/m2, and it will last for about 2 years.

Thanks to raising pigs on biological bedding, the costs of raising them have been reduced, resulting in profits that are 20% to 25% higher compared to traditional pig farming methods.
