FBI director says Russian intelligence poses major threat to US
(Baonghean.vn) - According to Russia's TASS news agency, the Hill newspaper recently quoted the statement of the Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) affirming that Russia's traditional counterintelligence threat continues to cause concern.

Specifically, on September 9, TASS reported that FBI Director Christopher Wray said that Russian intelligence agencies still maintain a presence in the US and pose a serious threat.
“The traditional Russian counterintelligence threat continues to be present,” the FBI director said, according to the Hill. “The footprint of Russian intelligence, and I mean Russian intelligence officers, is still very much in the United States,” Wray said.
“And that’s something that we’re constantly confronting and trying to stop, prevent, and disrupt in every way we can,” the FBI director added, noting that the United States has made “very positive, significant strides” in this direction in recent years.
In June, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Maria Zabolotskaya, speaking at a meeting of the Committee on Relations with the Host Country, said that US intelligence agencies were exerting psychological pressure on staff of the Russian mission to the international organization.
According to her, the US continues to apply many measures and restrictions to reduce the effectiveness of interactions between Russian diplomats and the United Nations. In particular, recruitment efforts by intelligence agencies in the US have been increased.
