The Director of the Department of Health visited and encouraged the victims of the attack and pursuit at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
On the afternoon of October 23rd, Dr. Le Thi Hoai Chung, a specialist in internal medicine and a member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Nghe An Department of Health, along with other leaders of the Department of Health, visited the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital to inquire about and encourage three medical staff members and two family members of patients – victims of the attack at the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital that occurred earlier that morning.

At Nghe An Friendship General Hospital, the Director of the Department of Health visited and encouraged each victim of the knife attack at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. The Director of the Nghe An Department of Health commended the medical staff who bravely intervened to stop the assailant and protect the health and lives of the newborns and their families.
At the same time, the Director of the Department of Health also directed the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital to focus its resources, equipment, and medicines on rescuing, treating, and caring for the victims to help them recover quickly.

Among the victims receiving treatment here, nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang suffered the most serious injuries. She was stabbed 11 times in the face, neck, chest, and back by the assailant Ban Van Vy. Two of the wounds were very severe, penetrating the lungs, severing the external jugular vein and a branch of the right subclavian artery. Fortunately, Trang underwent surgery in time and is now out of danger.

Next, nurse Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai was stabbed in the abdomen by the assailant Ban Van Vy. Nurse Nguyen Thi Nhung was stabbed three times in the back and arm. Doctors promptly treated the wounds of both nurses.


Two family members of patients were victims in this attack: Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Thuy (51 years old, from Nghe An) and Ms. Phan Thi Tu (64 years old, from Ha Tinh). Ms. Thuy's infant grandchild was snatched by the assailant Ban Van Vy, who threatened to throw it out the window. Ms. Tu's infant grandchild was chased and threatened with strangulation by Ban Van Vy. In the process of protecting her grandchild, Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Thuy was stabbed in the neck by Ban Van Vy; Ms. Phan Thi Tu was stabbed in the hand and back...
Thanks to timely medical intervention, all victims are now out of critical condition, but they remain very traumatized.
