July Press Briefing: Urban Planning Issues 'Heated'

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 3rd, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Department of Information and Communications jointly organized the regular monthly press briefing for July.

Speaking at the conference, many delegates expressed concerns about issues reported in the media, such as illegal mining in some localities and the practice of apartment buildings cutting corners on public amenities.

Representatives from the press also raised concerns about the construction and planning of several projects and land clearance along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ho Tong Thoc, and Bach Lieu streets. They noted that the urban planning of Vinh's roads and city is becoming increasingly fragmented due to the indiscriminate issuance of construction permits and the lack of specific planning for apartment complexes, which will have long-term consequences for the lives of residents and society.

Regarding "hot" issues that have been reported by the press and are being handled by the authorities, the delegates suggested that the relevant authorities hold a public press conference so that the public can be fully informed.

In addition, representatives from several media outlets also reported on the issue of illegal construction on irrigation canals in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, with approximately 200 permanent houses yet to be dealt with; and requested action regarding the Bau Sen case in Phuc Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (the authorities divided and sold land around this area, then organized the construction of an eco-tourism area, causing resentment among the people).

According to the results of marine environmental monitoring, Dien Thanh beach frequently has several pollution levels exceeding permissible limits due to indiscriminate waste discharge by local residents. We request that the Propaganda Department advise relevant authorities to address this issue promptly.

Delegates also expressed concerns about whether implementing autonomy for the 8 health units in the province would create difficulties for the units themselves, the provincial budget, and the people participating in health insurance. They requested that media outlets cease copying information to avoid the dissemination of inaccurate information and data; and that negative incidents reported by the press that have already been addressed by relevant authorities and the government should not be further reported by the media.

At the press conference, Chairman of the Nghe An Journalists Association Tran Duy Ngoan announced that the association will open a training course on journalistic writing skills regarding Party building work to encourage participation in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award.

Previously, in its review of the work for June 2017, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department acknowledged that media agencies had effectively implemented the propaganda guidelines, especially in promptly informing about the activities of National Assembly and Provincial People's Council delegates; activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to his hometown; localities conducting self-criticism according to Resolution 4 of the 12th Central Committee, linked with strengthening Party building work; and administrative reform…

In addition, other socio-economic activities were also given timely attention, such as: building new rural areas, restructuring crop patterns, constructing and renovating projects; illegal exploitation and environmental pollution; student enrollment activities; police activities; clearing sidewalks and restoring urban order…

In its July 2017 propaganda orientation, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department instructed media agencies to focus on reflecting activities related to the implementation of Party resolutions; the 4th session of the Provincial People's Council; the results of one year of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW; the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks in the first six months of the year and the implementation of tasks in the last six months; focusing on propaganda to protect maritime sovereignty; measures to prevent and control fires, explosions, and epidemics; ensuring food safety and hygiene, etc.

Concluding the conference, Comrade Ho Phuc Hop requested that media agencies continue to strongly publicize Resolutions X, XI, and XII of the Central Committee of the Party; the results of the 13th National Assembly session and the upcoming Provincial People's Council session; Party building work, combating self-evolution and self-transformation; the implementation of national defense and security tasks; and activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th.
