July press briefing: 'Hot' urban planning issues

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 3, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Department of Information and Communications jointly organized a regular press conference for July.

Speaking at the conference, many opinions of the participating delegates reflected issues of concern to the people that were reported in the press such as: illegal exploitation in some localities; the situation of apartment buildings cutting back on welfare facilities...

Newspaper representatives also raised concerns about the construction and planning of a number of project works and land acquisition on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ho Tong Thoc and Bach Lieu streets. The planning of Vinh's roads and urban areas is tending to be "chopped up" when construction permits are issued en masse and there is no specific planning for apartment buildings as at present, which will cause long-term consequences for the lives of people and society.

For "hot" cases that have been reported by the press and have been or are being handled by authorities, delegates suggested that authorities hold widespread press conferences so that public opinion can be fully informed.

In addition, representatives of some press agencies also reflected on the issue of illegal construction on irrigation canals in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district with about 200 solid houses that have not been handled; and requested to handle the Bau Sen case in Phuc Thanh commune, Yen Thanh (the government divided and sold land around this area, then organized the construction of an eco-tourism area, causing outrage among the people).

According to the results of marine environmental monitoring, Dien Thanh sea is a location where some pollution indexes often exceed the allowable level due to people's indiscriminate discharge of waste. We request the Propaganda Department to advise the relevant authorities to promptly handle this.

Delegates also wondered whether the implementation of autonomy for 8 medical units in the province would cause difficulties for the units themselves, the provincial budget and people participating in health insurance. They requested that press agencies stop copying information to avoid mass publication of incorrect information and data; negative incidents reported by the press have been directed to be resolved by the authorities and the government, so the press should not continue to report.

At the press conference, Chairman of Nghe An Journalists Association Tran Duy Ngoan said the association will open a training course on writing skills on Party building work to promote participation in the Golden Hammer and Sickle award.

Previously, evaluating the work of June 2017, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department acknowledged that press agencies had well implemented the propaganda orientation, especially timely information on the activities of National Assembly deputies and Provincial People's Council; activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to his hometown; localities carried out self-criticism according to Resolution 4 of the 12th Central Committee associated with strengthening Party building work; administrative reform...

In addition, other socio-economic activities are also given timely attention such as: new rural construction, crop restructuring, construction and renovation of project works; illegal exploitation, environmental pollution; enrollment activities; police activities; sidewalk clearance, restoring urban order...

Regarding the propaganda orientation for July 2017, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department noted that press agencies should focus on reporting on the implementation of Party resolutions; the 4th session of the Provincial People's Council; the results of 1 year of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW; the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks in the first 6 months of the year, implementing tasks for the last 6 months of the year; focusing on propagating the protection of sea and island sovereignty; measures to prevent and fight fires, explosions, and epidemics; ensuring food hygiene and safety, etc.

Concluding the conference, comrade Ho Phuc Hop requested press agencies to continue to strongly propagate the resolutions X, XI, XII of the Party Central Committee; the results of the 13th National Assembly session and the upcoming provincial People's Council session; Party building work, fighting against self-evolution and self-transformation; deploying national defense and security tasks and activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27./.
