Meeting on publishing - printing - distribution work in the first 6 months of 2017

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 13, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications to hold a conference on publishing, printing, and distribution in the first 6 months of 2017.

Nghe An currently has 2 publishing houses: Nghe An Publishing House and Vinh University Publishing House; 19 establishments are licensed to print publications, 1 unit is granted a certificate of registration for printing activities, and 4 units are licensed to distribute publications.

In general, publishing activities in the province have remained stable, growing in both the number of books and copies; the content and quality meet the needs of readers. Many publications have been published to serve political tasks, to propagate the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and important anniversaries of the homeland and country.

Many publications were released with high-quality propaganda content such as: "Socio-economic development strategy of Nghe An province in the period of 2015-2020 and vision to 2030" as documents serving the Spring Dinh Dau Investor Meeting, serving the investment promotion work of the province. Publishing the book "Homeland in Uncle Ho's heart" to serve the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to his hometown...

The printing industry in the province still maintained a stable growth rate, increasing by 5.26% compared to the same period last year. The number of printing establishments increased slightly (mainly private printing establishments). High-tech scientific and technical advances continued to receive investment from printing establishments. In general, the operations of many small and medium-sized printing establishments have become more dynamic, and the income of staff and workers has gradually improved.

In addition to the achieved results, the publishing, printing and distribution sector also revealed the following difficulties and limitations: thin staff, limited financial resources, the trend of publishing partners is decreasing, the number of printed copies is decreasing, book distribution is difficult, capital recovery is slow, the situation of piracy and illegal printing is complicated; the distribution work is not uniform between the plains and mountainous areas... which has affected the publishing, printing and distribution work in the province.

Concluding the Conference, Comrade Kha Van Tam - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department acknowledged the achievements of the publishing, printing and distribution industry in the first 6 months of 2017, emphasizing the key tasks in the last 6 months of the year.

Accordingly, continue to thoroughly implement Conclusion No. 19-TB/TW dated December 29, 2016 announcing the conclusion of the Secretariat on continuing to implement Directive No. 42 of the 9th Secretariat on improving the overall quality of publishing activities, promoting propaganda and dissemination of laws to deploy and apply legal regulations on publishing, printing and distribution; organize professional training and foster legal knowledge in the field of publishing, printing and distribution for subjects subject to the Law on Publishing.

Coordinate with relevant units to synchronously deploy inspection and examination work, and strictly handle violations in publishing, printing, and distribution activities... to ensure a healthy production and business environment, and strive to complete goals and plans in 2017.
