Traffic in Quy Hop is disrupted due to heavy rain and flooding.

(Baonghean.vn) - Over the past few days, Quy Hop district has experienced heavy rain, with very heavy rain in the early morning of September 14th. The sudden surge of water in rivers and streams caused localized flooding, swept away bridges, and forced students in some areas to stay home from school.

The Khe Rieng bridge in Nghia Xuan commune, Quy Hop district, is submerged under 1 meter of water, forcing students to stay home from school.

According to a quick report from the Quy Hop District Disaster Prevention and Rescue Command, approximately 95 houses in the district were flooded, with the highest numbers in Chau Quang, Chau Cuong, Nam Son, Bac Son, and Tam Hop. The floods damaged and swept away hundreds of meters of canals, 9 bridges and culverts, 2 dams, 10 km of roads, and 4 power poles.

In particular, the Tam Lien pedestrian bridge in Tam Hop commune was half-swept away by the flood. In addition, Quy Hop district had over 150 hectares of summer-autumn rice, 180 hectares of corn, 150 hectares of sugarcane, and over 120 hectares of other crops flooded, with 100 hectares completely washed away or destroyed. Over 200 hectares of industrial and fruit trees were also damaged. Along with the crops, nearly 3,800 head of livestock and poultry died or were swept away, and 20.5 hectares of aquaculture ponds were flooded and damaged.

Thousands of hectares of sugarcane in Quy Hop are deeply flooded.

In response to the damage caused by the floods, the district leaders and the Quy Hop District Flood and Storm Control Steering Committee organized teams to survey and inspect flood prevention and recovery efforts. They directed local authorities to dredge buried canals and irrigation ditches; mobilized people to repair damaged rice fields; and reinforced embankments and dikes, especially at vulnerable points.

The Chau Dinh spillway is deeply flooded, completely cutting off the southwestern communes of Quy Hop district.
