The moment Iranian missiles fired, shooting down a US drone.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) yesterday released a video showing its air defense system firing and shooting down a US Navy MQ-4C unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The flight path, origin, and location where the MQ-4C was shot down also appeared in the video.

The video shows the anti-aircraft missile activating its engine, creating a large fireball, and leaving the launch pad to hurtle towards its target in the night. The white glow from the missile's engine then turns orange, marking the moment the missile detonates and destroys the American UAV. "Allahu Akbar (God is great)," many soldiers at the scene shouted.

The US military also released video footage of the smoke plume created by the MQ-4C as it crashed into the sea. However, neither video proves whether the US UAV was shot down while violating Iranian airspace or operating in international airspace.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif today provided the coordinates of the downed MQ-4C, confirming the incident occurred in Iranian airspace and stating that some aircraft debris had been recovered within the country's territorial waters. "We do not want war, but we will wholeheartedly defend our skies, territory, and territorial waters," Foreign Minister Zarif added.

US President Donald Trump called it a "rotten apple spoiling the barrel," suggesting that the downing of the US drone was not intentional and was carried out by "someone stupid and unrestrained." Trump's remarks appeared aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran amid significantly increased concerns about a US-Iran conflict.
