Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the aspiration to transform into a dragon.
From the legend of the Dragon and the Immortal to the aspiration for strength and prosperity, the Vietnamese people have never ceased to yearn to assert themselves on a greater scale.

Deep within the Vietnamese psyche, the 10th day of the third lunar month is not only a historical milestone but also a sacred symbol, reminding every Vietnamese person of their origins and evoking a sense of unity among compatriots. Thousands of years have passed, through countless upheavals and changes, yet our nation remains devoted to the Hung Kings – the ancestors who founded the country – as a reminder that we are one people with shared blood and a shared destiny.
We are proud to be descendants of the Dragon and the Immortal – this beautiful legend speaks not only of a cultural identity, but also of a profound philosophy of unity. From a single womb of a hundred eggs, a hundred brothers and sisters are born – the Vietnamese nation is formed with an unbreakable bond of kinship and blood ties. Therefore, only in Vietnam do people call each other "compatriots" – two simple yet sacred words, encompassing so much love and responsibility. "Compatriots" is not just a form of address, but a life ideal, a sacred thread that binds all Vietnamese people together.
In the current context, as the country is changing day by day and the world faces many unpredictable changes, the spirit of national solidarity must become an intrinsic strength to help us overcome challenges. New challenges are knocking at the door. Global trade barriers are tightening, and this is also a warning that we cannot be complacent. Strategic competition between great powers, pressure from shifting supply chains, and crises in climate, geopolitics, and economics are placing very high demands on our adaptability and national cohesion; we must unite to rise above.

Amidst that great turmoil, it is all the more precious that the spirit of solidarity among compatriots is still nurtured and manifested in very concrete actions. One of the most touching proofs is the government's policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. With the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, hundreds of thousands of households now have sturdy roofs over their heads – a warmer, more comfortable life. No one is left behind – this is not just a slogan, but is becoming a reality after 50 years since the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. People feel protected, cared for, and loved. And perhaps, that is the simplest yet clearest image of the meaning of solidarity among compatriots in modern times.
As descendants of the Dragon and the Immortal, we are not only proud of our origins but also harbor a deep aspiration: to see our country soar high and far, transforming into a dragon in a world full of change. Transforming into a dragon is no longer a distant dream, but something that is gradually taking shape through steady steps: institutional reform, streamlining the apparatus, combating corruption and waste, promoting innovation, breakthroughs in science and technology development, and digital transformation... The monumental reforms that our Party and General Secretary To Lam are steadfastly implementing will pave the way for this dream – and although many difficulties remain, the belief in a strong and prosperous future for our nation is stronger than ever.
I believe that this journey is not just the responsibility of the State, but of all of us – ordinary citizens living on this beloved S-shaped land. Each of us has a role to play, a different situation, and a small contribution, but if everyone does their part well, the country will surely grow stronger. Let's live more kindly, study harder, work more responsibly, and be more generous to one another – because in each of these actions, we are adding strength to the dream of becoming a dragon.
On this sacred Ancestor Commemoration Day, as hundreds of millions of people turn their thoughts towards the Ancestral Land, remembering the Hung Kings, I only want to say one simple thing: thank you, ancestors, for giving us life in a nation that knows how to love one another and for giving us the opportunity to contribute our small part to the journey towards the future of our country.
As long as the spirit of brotherhood lives on in the hearts of the Vietnamese people, the belief and hope for a nation that will become a dragon will remain strong and will certainly become a reality; nothing can stop it!
