A series of good books about autistic children is about to reach readers nationwide. |
The story is about a boy named Hikaru. Like every other child, Hikaru was born with the love and hope of his parents. But right from birth, he showed unusual signs: he did not want to be held or cuddled, had disturbed sleep, and cried constantly...
Hikaru’s mother was shocked when the doctor diagnosed him with autism. Not only did she not receive sympathy from her husband and his family, she also had to endure criticism and accusations about the way she raised her child: letting him watch TV, feeding him ready-made food… The family’s happiness was on the brink of collapse…
But it was the boundless love for her child that gave the weak mother enough courage to fight against a syndrome that has not been explained by science and has not been sympathized by the community.
Admiring her will, her family members, people living around her, and teachers have gradually become more aware of autism, more sympathetic and understanding towards autistic people, thereby creating a more autistic-friendly society.
The comic series “Walking with the Light” not only realistically depicts the life of a family with an autistic person, but also seamlessly integrates knowledge about autism, early intervention methods for autistic children, etc. Each dialogue and each picture contains words of encouragement for efforts, comfort, sharing of worries and concerns, and bringing hope.
“Go with the Light” won Keiko Tobe the Excellence Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival.
The 15-volume comic book series will be published by Kim Dong Publishing House in 3 batches, each batch of 5 volumes nationwide.
