Preserving the soul of Nghe An province amidst the flow of integration.
Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, gave an interview to Nghe An Newspaper and Radio and Television.
PV:Comrade, in light of the demands of this era of integration and rapid transformation, how should the comprehensive development of the people of Nghe An be oriented to both promote traditional values and adapt to the new situation?

Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh:In any era, people have always been at the center and driving force of development. In Nghe An, this is especially significant, as it is a land rich in cultural and historical traditions, a place where distinctive values have shaped the character of the people of Nghe An: diligence, studiousness, integrity, loyalty, and faithfulness…

In implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Committee on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people, and especially Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, we clearly define that building a comprehensively developed Nghe An people is both an urgent and long-term task. Comprehensive development here does not only mean intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and moral development, but also the ability to integrate and adapt to the market economy and the new industrial revolution. Today's Nghe An people must have an open, dynamic, and creative mindset, dare to change, and constantly learn to keep pace with the progress of the times, while still preserving and being proud of their roots and traditions.

PV:In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge in the journey of building a Nghệ An people with their own unique identity while still adapting to the times?
Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh:Perhaps the most difficult thing is preserving individuality within a shared identity. During the integration process, if not handled carefully, identity can gradually fade. We cannot "frame" the people of Nghe An as before, but neither can we allow their identity to be diluted.
Therefore, we must awaken and promote the inherent positive values as a foundation, while proactively absorbing and selecting the finest elements of external cultures to enrich that identity. This is a process of inheritance and development, not opposition but complementarity. Today's people of Nghe An need to be both modern and integrated, yet steadfast in their unique character – this is the path to sustainable development.

PV:Over the past period, what solutions has the Culture sector advised on and implemented to concretize the policy of building a comprehensively developed person in Nghe An?
Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh:The Culture sector has advised on and implemented many important policies. These include: advising on the issuance of Resolution No. 29/2020/NQ-HĐND on policies for rewarding cultural titles in the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement for the period 2021-2025; Resolution No. 30/2020/NQ-HĐND on supporting the construction of grassroots cultural and sports facilities; Resolution No. 29/2021/NQ-HĐND on supporting artisans and intangible cultural heritage clubs; Resolution No. 20/2022/NQ-HĐND on supporting the development of grassroots cultural life; Resolution No. 28/2022/NQ-HĐND on supporting the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values; Resolution No. 09/2023/NQ-HĐND on supporting investment in swimming pools and swimming lessons for children…
In addition, we organize scientific seminars on building the character of Nghe An people through moral education and lifestyle within the family; developing human resources and culturally rich people in Nghe An to meet the demands of integration. We also promote movements such as "All people unite to build a cultured life," "Building new rural areas and civilized urban areas," "Bringing folk songs into schools," "Women actively studying, working creatively, and building happy families," and "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh"... Models such as "Happy Family," "Sports Family," clubs for preserving ethnic culture, activities to effectively implement village regulations and conventions, and preventing domestic violence... are all implemented synchronously, contributing to moral education, lifestyle, fostering love for the homeland, and the aspiration to contribute to the community.

PV: Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo emphasized the need to promote the historical and cultural traditions of Nghe An province, as well as its human potential and strengths, in order to build a comprehensively developed Nghe An. According to you, what are the key solutions that need to be implemented in the coming period?
Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh:In my opinion, there are five key groups of solutions:
The first,完善 the institutional system, mechanisms, and policies on culture; especially the mechanism for preserving and promoting the cultural values of Nghe An province, the mechanism for socializing resources, public-private partnerships, and reforming policies for training, attracting, and utilizing talent.
Monday,To enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management in culture; to strengthen inspection and supervision, while promoting the role of the entire political system. In particular, a fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training is necessary; focusing on education from the family, school, and society; and paying attention to the living environment, healthcare, and social welfare.
Tuesday,Invest more heavily in culture, especially in grassroots cultural and sports institutions; promote the "National Unity in Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement and build sustainable culturally rich families; focus on discovering, nurturing, and utilizing talent in the cultural field.
Wednesday,Strengthen propaganda and communication to raise community awareness of the role of culture and people in sustainable development.
Thursday,Considering the comprehensive development of the people of Nghe An as a long-term strategic task, it requires the synchronized and responsible involvement of the entire political system, all levels and sectors, and the whole of society.
If these solutions are implemented decisively and synchronously, I believe that Nghe An will be able to cultivate generations of citizens who possess both the character and qualities of Nghe An, while also being integrated, creative, and capable of mastering the future in the new context.
PV:In your opinion, what is the "key" for people from Nghe An to both integrate into the global community and preserve their cultural identity?
Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh:In my opinion, the key is self-confidence. Only when we understand the value of our own culture can we open ourselves to new things equally, without feeling inferior but also without being complacent. People from Nghe An must deeply understand that identity is not something outdated to display, but rather living values that can be flexibly applied in today's life.
Therefore, alongside integration, we must continuously preserve, nurture, and spread our distinctive cultural values – from the tradition of studiousness and respect for loyalty and friendship, to the spirit of overcoming difficulties and daring to think and act. This is the foundation for the people of Nghe An to develop comprehensively and confidently enter the new era.
PV:Thank you for the conversation!
