GMKtec EVO-X3 launched: Mini PC with Strix Halo chip costs twice as much as the previous generation.
The GMKtec EVO-X3 launched with a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip and OCuLink port. Despite having similar specifications to the EVO-X2, its starting price of $3,600 is double that of its predecessor.
GMKtec has officially launched its high-performance EVO-X3 mini PC series after a long wait. This is the company's next compact computer model using the Strix Halo architecture, offering improvements in design and peripheral connectivity compared to its predecessor.
The power of the Strix Halo chip and a controversial price tag.
At launch, the GMKtec EVO-X3 was equipped with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. This is the same Strix Halo APU that powered the EVO-X2. The device has two main configuration options, with the standard version boasting up to 128GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.

Notably, the starting price of $3,600 for the basic configuration is double the launch price of the EVO-X2, despite having the same memory and storage capacity. According to experts, this difference is partly due to the unstable fluctuations in the component market in recent times.
Significant improvements in design and connectivity.
Although it uses the same processor as the previous generation, the EVO-X3 is not a complete copy. GMKtec has redesigned the chassis to be roughly the same size as a PS4 gaming console. The most significant change is the addition of the OCuLink port, a feature omitted on the EVO-X2, expanding connectivity options with discrete graphics processors (eGPUs).
The device's cooling system has also been upgraded with three quiet-operating fans, allowing it to reach a power output of 140W in peak performance mode. In addition, it retains the USB4 port supporting 100W PD charging, and integrates the latest WiFi 7 standard and the pre-installed Claw system.
