Widow sells heroin to pay off bank debt
(Baonghean.vn) - With her business not going well and owing money to the bank, the young widow had the idea of drug trafficking. Luong took the money to the border area to buy 2 heroin plants and hid them in her pants, but was discovered by the police.
On August 18, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened the first instance trial of defendant Le Thi Ngoc Luong (born 1986), residing in Kim Son town, Que Phong district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

According to the case file, around 2021, while going to Tri Le commune, Que Phong district to buy quartz stone, Luong met a Mong ethnic man (unknown background and address) and asked for his phone number.
By early 2023, due to unfavorable business and debt to the bank, Luong had the idea of buying drugs to sell for profit. On February 13, 2023, Luong called the Mong people to discuss buying 2 heroin plants for 20 million VND.
The next day, Luong took the money and drove his motorbike to an area in Nam Giai Commune, Que Phong District to buy drugs. When he arrived, Luong parked his motorbike on the side of the road and walked to meet the drug dealer. This person showed Luong where the drugs were hidden in the bushes and also gave him 5 pink pills.
Luong hid the drugs she bought in her pants and left. However, on her way home, Le Thi Ngoc Luong was arrested by the police with two heroin bricks (equivalent to nearly 78 grams).
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime. Luong said that because of difficult circumstances and bank debt, he had the idea of drug trafficking.
The defendant presented her difficult circumstances, her husband had passed away, and she was raising two children alone, asking the court to consider reducing her sentence.
After considering aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the People's Court sentenced defendant Le Thi Ngoc Luong to 15 years in prison for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
