Google has launched the Pixel Tag location tracking device, featuring a UWB chip and advanced Bluetooth 6.0 technology.
Google has launched the Pixel Tag, a location tracking device featuring UWB technology, power-efficient Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, and an IP67 rating, ready to directly compete with Apple's AirTag.
At the Made by Google 2026 event, Google officially unveiled the Pixel Tag – the company's first smart tracking device. This accessory is designed to optimize the ability to find objects within the Android ecosystem, becoming a direct competitor to Apple's AirTag.

Minimalist design and high durability on the Google Pixel Tag.
The Google Pixel Tag impresses with its compact design, measuring 28 x 46.1 x 5.4 mm and weighing only 11.8 grams with the battery installed. The device comes in a single color option, Fog, harmoniously combining a luxurious metal front with a durable polycarbonate back.
The front of the device features the distinctive "G" logo and a speaker grille for audible alerts. On the back, users can easily remove the plastic cover to replace the common CR2032 button cell battery. According to the manufacturer, this battery provides over a year of use. In addition, the device meets the IP67 water and dust resistance standard, meaning it can safely operate at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

Dual UWB positioning technology and Bluetooth Channel Sounding
In terms of connectivity, the Pixel Tag is equipped with an accelerometer and an ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning chip. UWB technology allows the device to determine its location with centimeter accuracy at close range. Users can also activate the built-in speaker to locate objects through sound.
Notably, the device supports the new Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology. This feature requires a smartphone running Android 16 and supporting Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity. Although the measurement accuracy is only 0.3 to 0.5 meters (lower than UWB), Bluetooth Channel Sounding offers a significant advantage in terms of power efficiency. To use basic tracking features, users only need a device running Android 9 or later.

Price and specifications comparison
The Google Pixel Tag is priced at $29 (approximately 755,000 VND) for the standalone unit and $99 (approximately 2.58 million VND) for a bundle of four devices. The product will be distributed in Asian, European, North American, and Middle Eastern markets.
