Contributing capital to hire foreign companies to counterfeit Ariston and AMTs branded products.

Knowing that AMTs and Ariston brand water heater thermostats were selling well on the market, the two suspects had counterfeit products manufactured in China and brought them to Vietnam for sale.

On November 7th, Lieutenant Colonel Thanh Kien Trung, Deputy Head of the Economic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, announced that an urgent arrest warrant and a decision to temporarily detain Do Van Dat (28 years old) and Do Van Hoang (27 years old - Dat's cousin), residing at the same address in Ngoc Hoi commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi City, had been executed for the crime of "producing and trading counterfeit goods".

The subjects are Dat and Hoang.

Previously, on November 6th and 7th, the Anti-Smuggling and Illicit Goods Trafficking Team of this department discovered that Dat was transporting 1,000 AMTs brand water heater thermostats and 700 Ariston brand water heater thermostats, all of which were counterfeit.

Investigations revealed that Dat was formerly a sales employee of Minh Tuan Construction Materials Trading Joint Stock Company (the owner of the AMTs brand). Knowing that AMTs and Ariston branded water heater thermostats were selling well on the market, Dat and Hoang jointly invested capital to have counterfeit versions of these products manufactured in Dongxing, China, and imported into Vietnam.

Counterfeit products were seized.

Subsequently, Dat and Hoang had counterfeit packaging bearing the AMTs and Ariston trademarks printed and began selling them. Representatives of the Ariston and AMTs trademark owners confirmed that the goods sold by Dat and Hoang were counterfeit.

The Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency searched Dat's residence and seized thousands of sanitary equipment components manufactured in China without invoices or documents proving their origin, including AMTs brand water heater thermostats; 40 kg of product packaging and 2 packaging sealing machines.

This incident also serves as a warning to consumers to choose reputable retailers to avoid buying counterfeit goods. Using counterfeit products can cause fires, short circuits, and electrical leaks, posing a serious threat to human life.
