Ha Nam discovered nearly 3 tons of pork positive for African swine fever
On May 28, the Economic Security Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police announced that it had discovered nearly three tons of pork positive for African swine fever virus at the slaughterhouse of Mr. Nguyen Tien Manh's household in Ninh Lao residential group, Duy Minh ward, Duy Tien town, Ha Nam province.
Previously, in the early morning of May 27, the Economic Security Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Nam Province, conducted a surprise inspection of the slaughterhouse of Mr. Nguyen Tien Manh's household.

At the time of inspection, the authorities discovered that the facility had 4 workers participating in the slaughter, not wearing protective clothing, not having a health check and not having confirmed their knowledge of food safety. Checking the slaughter area, there were 5 pigs being slaughtered on the cement floor, not ensuring food hygiene and safety. The confinement area had 21 pigs (from 50 to 140 kg/pig), all showing signs of coughing, difficulty breathing, lethargy, slowness, and dry nose.
Working with the authorities, Mr. Manh confessed that all of the pigs were sick and unhealthy pigs purchased from households raising them in Kim Bang town and neighboring areas.
The inspection team took samples at the slaughterhouse and sent them to the Regional Veterinary Department I, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The results of the above samples were positive for African swine fever virus. The inspection team coordinated with the People's Committee of Duy Minh Ward, Duy Tien Town to destroy all live pigs and pork that tested positive for African swine fever virus. At the same time, disease prevention measures according to regulations were implemented.
Currently, Ha Nam Provincial Police are continuing to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Nam province to verify, clarify and handle according to regulations.
