Once a famous "child folk singer" phenomenon in the country and online community with achievements from prestigious competitions, Ha Quynh Nhu (from Yen Thanh) was compared with the beautiful words "a folk singer with millions of views", "singing folk songs as good as swallowing a CD". The singing career of this folk singer in the past is now increasingly shining with serious and precise investment.
Songs that touch people's hearts
Recently, people often seeQuynh Nhuin many music stages across the country and abroad, with songs bearing the sweet and deep folk melody of Nghe An. This girl from the rice fields of Phuc Thanh, Yen Thanh has had a long journey from famous music competitions since her youth, to her youth working in the professional music environment.
Ha Quynh Nhu's naturally sweet voice has captivated fans with songs like "Vi, Giam melodies", "Khuc hat song que", "Ve Ha Tinh nguoi oi", "Neo dau ben que"... Even now, when standing on big stages, Quynh Nhu still says that being born on a land with so much cultural sediment, being imbued with and practicing folk songs since childhood, that is the precious baggage that helps her make great strides in maturity.
Born into a poor farming family in Phuc Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Ha Quynh Nhu knew how to sing folk songs since she was 3 years old. At the age of 5, Nhu sang the song “A song of the Ha Tinh people” by musician Nguyen Van Ty in a mature manner, to the surprise and admiration of many people. “At that time, wherever I went, I volunteered to sing, and wherever I went, I became the center of attention because I sang folk songs very smoothly,” Quynh Nhu said.
Over time, her love of singing and her early talent were developed through competitions and festivals at the commune, district and provincial levels. Difficult folk songs such as “Ten graces of parents”, “Mother’s words”,… were performed by Quynh Nhu in a sweet, simple yet profound way, unexpectedly captivating the listeners. Through many folk song competitions in schools at the district and provincial levels, Quynh Nhu was noticed by many famous artists.
In particular, People's Artist Hong Luu once exclaimed that Quynh Nhu is the inheritor of Nghe Tinh folk songs in the digital age. People's Artist Hong Luu is also the first teacher to correct Quynh Nhu's melodious sentences and the standard pitch of her hometown's vi and giam songs. Quynh Nhu is also a young student that People's Artist Hong Luu brought to her house to eat and live with her to teach her how to sing. "It was Ms. Luu who fanned the flame of passion for folk songs in me. She taught me the beauty, the quintessence, the tenacious, generous, passionate Nghe quality in the folk song responses of Nghe people" - Quynh Nhu said.
From those first steps, Quynh Nhu boldly registered to participate in the program "Future Idol" on HTV7, and with the passion and rare talent of a poor girl from the countryside, Quynh Nhu was continuously called to the next round.
“At the time I took the exam, my parents had to borrow money for travel expenses. I was still young at the time, so my mother was in charge of setting up the programs and competitions. I don’t know why my mother checked the schedule at that time and my mother and I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City a week early. Luckily, the Nghe An people here took care of me and provided me with food and accommodation, so I passed the exam with third place overall in indescribable joy and also choked with emotion at the love of people and homeland in a foreign land,” Ha Quynh Nhu said.
Identify "Who I am, where I come from"
Following that success, in 2018, Quynh Nhu registered for The Voice Kid 2018, a prestigious music competition for teenagers, and right from the qualifying round, Quynh Nhu had to compete with hundreds of musical talents across the country. With seriousness and meticulousness, Quynh Nhu continuously won through many rounds. At the end of the competition, Quynh Nhu excellently won the championship of The Voice Kid 2018 to the joy and happiness of thousands of fans across the country.
In all competitions, despite having a good voice and a wide vocal range, Quynh Nhu can sing many genres such as ballad, blue-jazz, dance... but in the important rounds, the main song Quynh Nhu chooses is still a song with the folk melody of Nghe Tinh.
Wherever I am, performing or competing, I am still aware that only folk songs can convey all the things I want to say.

After graduating from high school, Quynh Nhu took the entrance exam to the National Academy of Music and became a freshman in the Vocal Music Department. While studying, she also performed in many places, she was invited to participate in many shows both domestically and internationally. On every stage, she was invited to sing folk songs or songs with the folk music of Nghe Tinh.
Having been immersed in the folk songs of her homeland on many overseas tours and seeing many people crying with emotion, Quynh Nhu cherished her hometown's folk songs even more. The most memorable was the tour in Japan with singer Le Thanh Phong. This program was organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023). Through performances of various types of Vietnamese intangible cultural heritage, the program brought stories about Vietnam - Japan friendship, while introducing to the public in Japan the unique beauty of the three regions of Vietnam...
On the new journey and new steps, Quynh Nhu confided that she still wants to renew herself on the musical path with a few different genres, but in the end, the folk music of Nghe An is still the best choice. Because for an artist, identifying and answering the question "Who am I, where do I come from?" is already a success.
