Ha Tinh has the youngest Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in the country.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh (40 years old) has just been appointed Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province.

On the morning of April 20th, the People's Council of Ha Tinh province held its 16th extraordinary session of the 16th term, electing Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh (Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province) as Chairman of the province for the 2011-2016 term.

Previously, the delegates unanimously agreed to relieve Mr. Le Dinh Son from his position as Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and simultaneously elected him to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, 16th term, 2011-2016. Mr. Son continued to concurrently hold the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

The Provincial People's Council also held a secret ballot to elect Mr. Dang Quoc Vinh (former Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee), Mr. Dang Ngoc Son (former Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Tinh), and Mr. Duong Tat Thang (former General Director of the Ha Tinh Mineral and Trade Corporation) to the position of Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh, born in 1976, is from Tien Dien commune, Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh province). He holds a PhD in Urban and Construction Management and is a senior political officer.

Before becoming Chairman of the province, Mr. Khanh held various positions including Director of the Department of Construction, Chairman of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the province, Secretary of Nghi Xuan district, and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province. At the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Mr. Khanh was elected as an alternate member of the Central Committee.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh is the son of Mr. Dang Duy Bau, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Ha Tinh province from 1996 to 2005.

At the age of 40 when he took office, Mr. Khanh became the youngest provincial chairman in the country.
