Hacking Facebook accounts, defrauding people of selling cancer drugs to appropriate property
(Baonghean.vn) - Hoang Mai town police said they are detaining Tran Duc Tien (born in 1999), residing in Yen Lap town, Yen Lap district, Phu Tho province, for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
Previously, on June 9, Hoang Mai Town Police received a report from Mr. NTL (born in 1972), residing in Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City, about ordering medicine through Facebook and transferring 54 million VND to the bank account of a person named Tien. However, because the medicine was not the correct type, he did not receive the goods.
When Mr. L. asked, Tien said he sent the wrong money and asked Mr. L. to transfer more money as a deposit. However, Mr. L. did not agree, so Tien unfriended and blocked Mr. L.'s phone number.

Immediately after receiving the report, Hoang Mai Town Police urgently verified. Through the work of grasping the situation, the police agency determined that a number of victims had been scammed by the above subject in a similar manner (selling scarce medicine to treat cancer). Realizing the complexity of the case, the town police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special investigation.
After a period of synchronous implementation of professional measures, on June 11, 2023, Hoang Mai Town Police sent a working group directly to Phu Tho province to urgently arrest Tran Duc Tien (born in 1999), residing in Yen Lap town, Yen Lap district, Phu Tho province for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
At the investigation agency, through the struggle, the subject Tien confessed that he had hacked the Facebook account "Dong Thi Chien" to use and sell cancer drugs on social networks and was contacted by Mr. NTL to order. After that, the subject tricked Mr. L. into transferring 54 million VND to his bank account. With the above trick, Tien defrauded a number of victims of over 400 million VND.
The case is currently being investigated and clarified by Hoang Mai Town Police.
