Hacking Facebook accounts and fraudulently selling cancer medication to steal money.

Previously, on June 9th, the Hoang Mai Town Police received a report from Mr. NTL (born in 1972), residing in Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City, stating that he had ordered medicine via Facebook and transferred 54 million VND to the bank account of a person named Tien. However, because the medicine was not the correct type he ordered, he refused to accept the delivery.

When Mr. L. inquired, Tien said he had sent the money by mistake and asked Mr. L. to transfer more money as a deposit. However, Mr. L. refused, so Tien unfriended him and blocked his phone number.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Hoang Mai Town Police quickly verified the information. Through intelligence gathering, the police determined that several victims had been defrauded by the suspect using a similar method (selling scarce medicine to treat cancer). Recognizing the complexity of the case, the town police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special task force to investigate.

After a period of coordinated implementation of investigative measures, on June 11, 2023, the Hoang Mai Town Police sent a task force directly to Phu Tho province to arrest Tran Duc Tien (born in 1999), residing in Yen Lap town, Yen Lap district, Phu Tho province, for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

During questioning at the investigative agency, Tien confessed to hacking the Facebook account "Dong Thi Chien" to sell various cancer treatment drugs online. He was contacted by Mr. NTL to place an order. Subsequently, Tien tricked Mr. L. into transferring 54 million VND via bank account. Using this method, Tien defrauded several victims of over 400 million VND.

The case is currently being investigated by the Hoang Mai Town Police.
