Hacker who texted 'your child is as stupid as a cow' was arrested

Police discovered that the person who attacked the "electronic contact book" of Ba Dinh Secondary School (Hanoi) sent messages to parents with derogatory content.

On September 28, Ba Dinh District Police, Hanoi, said that the mass text messages sent to parents of Ba Dinh Secondary School with derogatory content were determined to be caused by a hacker. The suspect is a university graduate with knowledge of information technology.

On the afternoon of September 25, the police received a report from the school's leadership stating that at around 4:30 p.m. that same day, a text message from the school's "electronic contact book" had been sent to many parents with the following content: "Your child is as stupid as a cow. I wonder if you know how to teach your child?"

The insulting remarks angered the recipient. The school later apologized to the parents, explaining that the system had been hacked.

On the evening of September 25, with the support of the High-Tech Crime Prevention Police Department (PC50), Ba Dinh District Police identified the suspect and summoned him. Working with the authorities, the young man admitted to his actions. However, the motive for hacking and sending the above messages has not been disclosed by the authorities.

"We have sent an email to the parents of the school to let them know that the incident was caused by a hacker attack," an investigator said.
