A father and son from Truong Vinh ward were swept away by waves for over 13 hours at sea, but were fortunately rescued.
At approximately 6:30 AM on July 31st, at coordinates 18.39.8433, the cargo ship VINASINE 555 (number QN-8425), commanded by Captain Tran Dinh Hai (born in 1981), spotted and promptly rescued a father and son who were swept away by waves while drifting offshore.
The victims were Mr. NTT (born in 1990) and his daughter NTPA (born in 2019), residents of Truong Vinh ward (Nghe An province). Earlier, on the afternoon of July 30th, they went to Xuan Thanh beach to play and use a SUP (stand-up paddleboard). While playing, due to strong southerly winds, the father and daughter were swept far from shore, past Mat Island, more than 30 km from the mainland. They struggled in the sea for over 13 hours in dangerous conditions until they were spotted and rescued safely by the VINASINE 555 vessel.

Both victims are now in stable condition and are being transported to Vung Ang port (Ha Tinh province), a stop on the ship's voyage from Nam Dinh to Dung Quat. Their families have been notified and are on their way to the port to pick them up. The ship is expected to arrive at the port around 10 am this morning.

Previously, the Beach Management Board had repeatedly warned locals and tourists about enjoying beach activities in bad weather, especially the use of SUPs without safety equipment or supervision. However, many people still acted carelessly, leading to unfortunate incidents.
