Father and son in Truong Vinh ward were swept away by waves for more than 13 hours at sea, luckily rescued
At around 6:30 a.m. on July 31, at coordinates 18.39.8433, the transport ship VINASINE 555 (number QN-8425), commanded by captain Tran Dinh Hai (born in 1981), discovered and promptly rescued a father and son who were swept away by waves while drifting offshore.
The victims were Mr. NTT (born in 1990) and his daughter NTPA (born in 2019), residing in Truong Vinh ward (Nghe An province). Previously, on the afternoon of July 30, they went to Xuan Thanh beach to play and use a SUP boat. While playing, due to the influence of strong southerly winds, the father and daughter were swept away from shore, passing the Mat island area, more than 30 km from the mainland. They struggled in the sea for more than 13 hours in dangerous conditions, until they were discovered and safely rescued by the ship VINASINE 555.

Both are currently in stable condition and are being taken to Vung Ang port (Ha Tinh), a stop on the ship’s route from Nam Dinh to Dung Quat. The victims’ families have been notified and are on their way to the port to pick up their loved ones. The ship is expected to arrive at the port around 10am this morning.

Previously, the Beach Management Board has repeatedly warned residents and tourists about playing on the beach in bad weather conditions, especially using SUPs without protective equipment or safety supervision. However, there are still many cases of subjectivity, leading to unfortunate incidents.
