A mother and daughter in their 20s participated in an inter-district lottery ring.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Nghi Loc District Police Investigation Agency has just dismantled an inter-district lottery ring, temporarily detaining 4 suspects and seizing 14 million VND along with many related assets.
To combat the emergence of illegal gambling dens that were affecting local security and order, the Nghi Loc District Police leadership decided to establish Special Case No. 194D, headed by Major Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Deputy Chief of Nghi Loc District Police.

Through investigative measures, on April 25th, the investigating agency had sufficient grounds and proceeded to arrest Nguyen Thi Hoa (born in 1962), residing in Hamlet 12, Nghi My Commune. During a search of her residence, the special task force seized 14 million VND, 5 mobile phones, 1 fax machine, 2 betting slips, and 1 betting stub.
Through the investigation of Nguyen Thi Hoa, authorities uncovered a lottery ring involving numerous individuals operating in Nghi Loc district and Vinh city.
On April 26th, the investigating agency carried out an emergency arrest warrant against three individuals: Dang Thi Oanh (born in 1989), residing in Hamlet 1, Nghi Lam Commune; Nguyen Thi Nhung (born in 1990), residing in Hamlet 14, Nghi Kim Commune; and Nguyen Ngoc Oanh (born in 1955), residing in Block 5, Hong Son Ward, Vinh City. They seized several related items, including: 4 mobile phones, 1 iPad, and 3 betting slips.
The suspects confessed that in early 2017, Nguyen Thi Nhung and Dang Thi Oanh participated in recording lottery numbers and then forwarded them to Nguyen Ngoc Oanh. Mr. Oanh provided information so that Nhung and Oanh could transfer the lottery numbers to him using their personal accounts on the website LD789.net.

Besides directly recording lottery numbers, Nguyen Thi Nhung also enticed and persuaded many others to participate in recording lottery numbers for her to profit, including Nguyen Thi Hoa, Nhung's mother. Dang Thi Oanh also enticed and persuaded many others to do this for her, including Dang Van Toan (born in 1966), residing in Hamlet 1, Nghi My Commune, and Tran Thi Thien (born in 1989), residing in Hamlet 1, Nghi Lam Commune.
The investigating agency determined that from April 12, 2017, until the suspects' arrest, the amount of money related to their criminal activities was 109.135 million VND.
Currently, the investigating agency is holding Nguyen Thi Nhung, Dang Thi Oanh, Nguyen Thi Hoa, and Nguyen Ngoc Oanh in temporary custody for further investigation into the case.
