Two male students from Do Luong 2 High School were honored at a commendation ceremony for overcoming difficulties.
The 2025 high school graduation exam season marks a breakthrough for Do Luong 2 High School, as for the first time, two students from the school were included in the list of those commended by the Provincial People's Committee. These two students have overcome their circumstances and are shining examples of studiousness at this school, which still faces many difficulties.
Ho Minh Quang: Study hard to become a good teacher.
Ho Minh Quang completed the 2025 High School Graduation Exam with 37.75 points, placing him in the top 5 of the province, with scores of 9.5 in Mathematics, 9 in Literature, 10 in Physics, and 9.25 in Chemistry.
Looking at Quang's results, it's hard to believe that just three years ago, when he was in 10th grade, he had considered not taking the university entrance exam and instead going abroad to work.
Teacher Doan Thi Huong Ly, homeroom teacher of class 12A1, recounted: "When Quang first started school, he was quiet and quite shy. Once, he shared with me that he didn't want to go to university because he was afraid his parents were poor and wouldn't have enough money to support his education. Knowing that Quang was a good student, having achieved the title of outstanding student at the district level in 9th grade, I encouraged him to try his best because this would be the shortest path for him and his family to overcome their circumstances."

Having spent more time with Quang, teacher Huong Ly realized that Quang was a very intelligent student. However, in order for Quang to develop his personal abilities, the teacher had to organize many activities and boldly assign Quang to lead groups, organize, and develop programs…
Through his participation in the movement, Quang gradually became more open and enthusiastic about class and school activities. This also encouraged Quang in his studies and helped him excel in many subjects. In 10th grade, this male student proactively messaged his homeroom teacher and subject teachers to express his desire to be selected for the gifted student team.

Speaking about Quang, Ms. Tran Thi Kieu Quy, a physics teacher and head of the school's Natural Science Department, said: "Quang is a diligent and hardworking student who has never needed any reminders from me. Besides his studies in class, Quang also has a strong sense of self-learning and independent research…"
During her time teaching and mentoring Quang, Ms. Quy remembers most vividly this year's exam season when Quang registered to take both Physics and Mathematics exams simultaneously. However, due to Quang's small stature and weak health, her biggest worry was that he would fall ill from studying too much. Closer to the exam day, she took Quang to the health center to get a flu shot. Quang did not disappoint his teachers.provincial excellent student competitionIn the 2024-2025 school year, Quang won first and second prizes in Physics at the provincial level and second prize in Mathematics.

Ms. Bui Thi Huong, Quang's mother, shared: "My husband and I are both elderly and only work in agriculture, so we left our son's education to the teachers. During his high school years, I know there were many times when he felt embarrassed having to ask his parents for money for tuition and entrance exams… However, I always encouraged him to study hard so that he could go to university and get a decent job."
In class 12 A1, Quang's circumstances are very difficult. His father, now over 52 years old, used to work as a security guard in Hanoi but had to quit due to poor health. His mother, besides farming, only does odd jobs like weeding, pruning, and digging holes for planting acacia trees, so her income is unstable, sometimes she has work, sometimes she doesn't. Out of love for his parents, Quang decided to choose the Education major at Hanoi University of Education to ease the burden on his family.

Throughout my student life, I received a great deal of care and support from my teachers, and it is thanks to them that I have achieved the results I have today. I believe that, as a teacher myself, I will strive to be an excellent teacher, imparting knowledge, supporting my students, and dedicating myself wholeheartedly to my work.

Le Van Hai: Learning toOvercoming adversity
In the same class as Quang, Hai is also an outstanding student; in the recent 12th-grade excellent student competition, he simultaneously won second prize in both Mathematics and Chemistry.
In the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, I was among the top-scoring students in Group A, receiving commendation for achieving a score of 9 in both Mathematics and Literature. Additionally, I received a perfect score of 10 in both Physics and Chemistry.

Sharing his thoughts on his exam results, Hai added: "I think the Physics and Chemistry exams this year weren't too difficult, and I finished earlier than the allotted time. For Math, I think I would have done better if I hadn't been so nervous. As for Literature, I was quite surprised. Without the thorough preparation from my teachers, I don't think I could have achieved such good results."
Growing up in Bach Ngoc commune in a family where both parents were farmers, Hai believed that education was the only way for him to overcome his circumstances. With that simple thought in mind, from the 10th grade until now, Hai has always set himself a scientific and diligent study plan.

Every day, in addition to attending classes and review sessions at school, Hai spends a considerable amount of time studying on his own: "I think the most important thing is to master the knowledge in the textbooks. Besides that, you have to practice a lot of exam questions to get familiar with different types of exercises and develop carefulness when doing assignments..."
During the exam preparation period, Hai always expressed gratitude to his teachers because, due to his difficult circumstances, he almost never attended extra classes outside of school. He also avoided aptitude and critical thinking assessment exams because he was worried about the high costs of preparation and travel. In return, thanks to regular review and tutoring at school, and free extra lessons at his teachers' homes, he mastered the knowledge and gained the confidence to express himself.
With these results, Hai has now registered for the Military Science Academy and dreams of becoming a soldier in the future. Teacher Doan Thi Huong Ly – homeroom teacher of class 12A1 – shared that she was very happy that the class had a successful exam season. Hai and Quang are both students who deserve commendation this year. Their perseverance has helped them overcome their circumstances.
From the school's perspective, having two students included in the list of those receiving commendation for the first time is considered a remarkable achievement.

Teacher Tran Van Trung - the school principal - added: "Do Luong 2 High School is a school in a disadvantaged area, and for many years its entrance exam scores have been among the lowest in the province. During their studies, many students have considered dropping out or not taking the university entrance exam due to difficult circumstances. To overcome these obstacles, the teachers have been the ones supporting, encouraging, motivating, and inspiring the students. The students themselves have also constantly strived to live up to the trust of their teachers and families."
We hope that the success of this year's exams will further motivate future generations of students to strive harder and provide more examples of overcoming difficulties to excel in their studies, inspiring this poor and disadvantaged rural area.
Mr. Tran Van Trung - Principal of Do Luong 2 High School
