Tuan Anh and Nam were both former employees of this toll station. After robbing the money, they fled on a motorbike. After about 3 km, Tuan Anh fell and injured his leg, forcing him to lie down near the railway tracks, about 3 km from the scene. Nam left the motorbike at Long Khanh General Hospital and then took a bus back to Ho Chi Minh City to rent a room.
Nam called Tuan Anh after getting his wounds bandaged and told him to come to Ho Chi Minh City to receive 50 million VND upfront, with the remaining amount to be divided later after "gathering information about the situation being stable." Around 11 PM, when the two met at Saigon Station to divide the money, they were surrounded and arrested by police detectives.
Police seized some gold that Nam had bought with the stolen money, 100 million VND, and various related documents.
At around 7:00 AM on February 7th, two robbers wearing black jackets, masks, and sneakers emerged from the rubber plantation behind the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway toll station. They then climbed over the fence and broke into the accounting office through a window. Inside, three toll station employees were handing over shifts, and the safe was open.
One assailant fired a gun at the computer to intimidate the staff, while the other used the handle of a knife to strike the employee in the neck, subduing him before stealing over 2 billion VND from the safe. They escaped through the same route they took back to the rubber plantation.
While fleeing, they dropped a backpack containing over 80 million VND. At the scene, police seized one iron bullet (BB bullet), two knives, a cloth hat, two bottles of gasoline, one can of pepper spray, and three pairs of athletic shoes...
