Vietnam Navy puts two new Molniya ships into service
On the morning of October 9, Ba Son Corporation handed over the pair of Molniya missile boats numbered 382 and 383 to the Vietnam Navy.
The two newest missile boats have been handed over to Brigade 167, Naval Region 2 Command. The pair of missile boats M5, M6 (numbered 382, 383) are in the first batch of 6 that the Navy signed a contract to build with Ba Son Corporation (General Department of Defense Industry) since 2009 under the form of technology transfer from Russia.
According to the contract, the diagram of the total division of the hull and superstructure, the design drawings, the construction drawings of the pair of ships No. 3 according to the License transfer documents with modifications and confirmation of Russian experts were strictly implemented by Ba Son, the process. Meanwhile, the materials used in the process of manufacturing and processing the hull and superstructure are suitable and have certificates and clear origins.

Russian experts assessed that the work of manufacturing segments, sub-assemblies, assembling the hull and superstructure was carried out by Ba Son on schedule, ensuring quality, meeting technical requirements, and in accordance with the technical design documents of the 12418 Molniya ship licensed by the Russian Federation.
Molniya missile boat is one of the modern attack missile boats, considered to be the most complete and stable in the world today, designed by the Almaz Naval Design Institute (Russian Federation). The successful construction of 6 Molniya-class fast attack missile boats has marked an important milestone in the history of Vietnam's military shipbuilding sector.
The Molniya class 12418 fast attack missile boat is one of the most complex ships that represents the latest achievements in scientific and technical progress. The boat has a displacement of 560 tons and very high sea-going performance with a maximum speed of nearly 70 km/h under standard conditions.
The operating time at sea is 10 days, the operating distance when running at average speed is from 1,650 to 2,400 nautical miles. The ship is designed to destroy teams or groups of warships, landing ships, escort ships and other enemy fleets independently; protect submarines, landing ships; perform reconnaissance missions...
The ship integrates many high-tech equipment systems, combining the best offensive and defensive capabilities such as: Weapon systems, power systems, control equipment systems, protection systems and structures to ensure the ship's vitality, seaworthiness, independent operation and other equipment.
The ship's firepower system is equipped with the Kh-35 Uran-E missile system with 16 missiles arranged in 4 launchers on both sides of the ship. This type of missile is capable of sinking warships with a displacement of 5,000 tons, with a range of up to 130 km.
In addition, the ship is also equipped with an AK-176M 76.2mm automatic gun with a range of 15 km and a rate of 130 rounds/minute, two Ak-630M high-speed anti-aircraft guns with a rate of fire of up to 5,000 rounds/minute, and two AK-630M 6-barrel automatic guns with a range of 4-5 km and a rate of fire of 4,000-5,000 rounds/minute.
