To attract borrowers at a 60% monthly interest rate, Van and his wife organized a dice gambling den, luring many gamblers to participate.

On May 20th, the Tay Ninh Police temporarily detained Pham Trieu Van (32 years old) and his wife Dang Thi Minh Phuong (35 years old), along with 6 accomplices, on charges of organizing gambling, usury, and extortion.

According to the investigation, the couple, Van and his wife, ran a lending business in Long Thanh Nam commune, Hoa Thanh district, charging an interest rate of 60% per month. Before giving the money to borrowers, they deducted 5% as a commission for their subordinates who collected the interest daily.

When debtors couldn't pay, they would hurl insults, threaten, vandalize houses, and even beat them up. If anyone tried to obstruct them or encroach on their territory, Van would have his henchmen "deal with" them.

In addition, Van also organized a dice gambling den, employing lookouts to lure many gamblers into participating. When players ran out of money, the couple readily lent them money at exorbitant interest rates.

Three days ago, police dismantled Van's loan sharking ring, seizing over 77 million VND, 18 motorbikes, 5 knives, and 2 sets of methamphetamine paraphernalia...

The incident is under extensive investigation.
