"The Pacific Fleet ships will participate in this exercise for the first time. The ADMM-PLUS 2016 naval exercise involves nearly 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region," Martov said.
During the drills, Russian sailors from the group will patrol the area and conduct a joint search and rescue operation for a ship seized by a hypothetical terrorist group. After the ship is rescued, a joint unit will escort it back to port, he added.
The anti-submarine destroyer Admiral Vinogradov, the rescue tug Fotiy Krylov and the tanker Irkut will be part of the Pacific Fleet's group of ships taking part in the exercise.
Also within the framework of this exercise, Russian sailors plan to visit the ports of Singapore and Brunei./.
