Hamas confirms agreement to disarmament roadmap.
The Hamas movement announced it has accepted a new agreement to end the conflict with Israel, which includes a phased disarmament roadmap and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip. This announcement came after US President Donald Trump declared a "historic agreement" had been reached on the complete disarmament of armed forces in Gaza.
Hamas officials said that the management and safekeeping of the movement's weapons would be handled by a committee established under the coordination of the Peace Council. The movement also expects the mediators, along with the Peace Council, to monitor Israel's full implementation of its commitments, particularly the clause on withdrawing troops from Gaza.
Ghazi Hamad, a member of the Hamas negotiating team, asserted that the group had made numerous concessions to protect the Palestinian people.
"We accepted these concessions for the people of Gaza, so that they would no longer have to face bombing and displacement," he said.
According to Hamad, Israel will not directly intervene in the disarmament process. Instead, this task will be carried out by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).
Earlier, on the evening of July 30 (US time), President Donald Trump announced on social media that the parties had reached a historic agreement on "the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza." This process will be implemented in phases. Trump described it as "a tremendous step forward" toward lasting peace and security in the territory.
How will stabilization in Gaza be achieved?
In another post, President Trump stated that after Hamas completes its disarmament, Israeli troops will withdraw from Gaza. At that point, an International Stabilization Force will work with the new Palestinian police force to ensure security in Gaza and surrounding areas.
The Peace Council also confirmed on platform X that Hamas had agreed to a "detailed roadmap" for implementing the next phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The organization stated that the current focus is on putting the terms into practice, and announced that the NCAG will gradually take over the administration of Gaza before assuming full civilian administrative authority.
The disarmament of Hamas has long been seen as one of the biggest obstacles to the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza, which came into effect last October but has been repeatedly violated.
Before the agreement was announced, a Hamas source said the movement had submitted several proposed amendments regarding the disarmament clause and was awaiting a response from Israel through intermediaries.
To date, Israel has not issued an official comment on Hamas's statement or the content of the new agreement. However, an Israeli source said the proposed agreement does not meet Tel Aviv's demands, including the complete disarmament of Hamas, the removal of all weapons from Gaza, and the demilitarization of the entire strip.
Meanwhile, Egypt's Al-Qahera News reported that Cairo will soon host a meeting between mediators including the US, Qatar, Türkiye, and Egypt to promote the second phase of the ceasefire plan.
