Dozens of landslides occurred in Que Phong due to heavy rain.

(Baonghean.vn) - Heavy rains have not only caused flooding, but landslides have also occurred on many roads in Que Phong district, with soil and rocks collapsing into people's homes, forcing evacuations.

According to information from the Que Phong district authorities, heavy rain on the night of September 26th and the early morning of September 27th caused serious landslides on many roads in the area, isolating some localities and affecting the transportation of people.

By 10:00 AM on September 27th, the entire district had over 30 landslides of varying sizes. Of these, 17 occurred along National Highway 16 and National Highway 48D. Two major landslides caused traffic congestion at Km 265+800 on National Highway 16 and Km 203+750 on National Highway 16.

For district roads, there are approximately 15 landslide points, including two major ones on Highway 3.31 in Nam Giai commune.

Mr. Lo Minh Tuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Giai commune, said: Currently, the road leading to the commune has been blocked by landslides, making it impossible for vehicles to enter the area. Five villages in the commune are also currently isolated. The local authorities have relocated 22 households from the dangerous areas and assigned personnel to be on duty at critical points.

In Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, there are also landslides, making travel difficult for residents. Currently, four villages are flooded: Lam Truong, Phuong Tien 2, Phuong Tien 1, and Dan. Local authorities have evacuated 30 households from these four villages. In addition, 70 hectares of crops have been severely flooded.

During the discussion, Mr. Bui Van Hien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Phong district, said: Due to the impact of heavy rain, there are many landslides and road closures in the area. The district has directed the forest protection unit to put up warning signs and assign personnel to be on duty at these points to ensure traffic for people, such as at Chuoi slope, National Highway 16, the road to Nam Giai, Chau Thon... At the same time, machinery will be brought in to clear and open one lane for people to pass through, and both lanes will be opened when the rain subsides. In addition, local authorities and functional forces in the communes have proactively implemented the "four on-the-spot" measures to transport belongings and relocate people to safe places.
