Dozens of households in Vinh City suffer because of 'houses without numbers, streets without names'
Dozens of households in Tan An block, Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city currently face many difficulties in daily life due to not having street names or house numbers.
For many years now, whenever guests from afar come to visit, Mrs. Ho Thi Loi in Tan An block, Vinh Tan ward always tells everyone to stop at Tan Phuong bridge over Vinh river so she can welcome them into her house. The reason for this inconvenience is that her family's residence does not have a street name or house number, so she does not know how to show people how to get to her house.

Mrs. Loi sighed: We live less than 1 km from the city center, but we don't have street names, alleys, or house numbers, which makes our daily life upside down. Whenever relatives and friends come to visit, we have to borrow locations such as the end of Le Mao extended street, Trang An apartment building, Tan Phuong bridge, Vinh riverside road... to pick them up. Sometimes, shippers who come to deliver goods also encounter similar awkward situations because they don't know where their house is to deliver the goods, sometimes the family has to walk hundreds of meters to receive the goods.

That is also the situation of dozens of households in Tan An block, Vinh Tan ward. According to the reporter's records, there are 2 roads in the block that do not have street names or house numbers, located on the right and left sides when passing Tan Phuong bridge over Vinh river, each road is hundreds of meters long. According to observations, the houses here do not have signs with house numbers or alley numbers. The road surface has also shown signs of deterioration over time.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phung in Tan An block said: We have lived here for decades but have never had a home address. This situation has greatly affected our family's life and business. Especially in times of emergency, when we need to call an ambulance, taxi, or Grab, we have to fumble around calling and asking for directions, which is very time-consuming. Businesses also do not know where to write their address on their billboards, which affects their business.

It is known that in neighborhood meetings and voter meetings, the issue of not having street names and house numbers is always raised by people. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hau - Head of Tan An block said: We are very upset about this issue, which greatly affects the lives and work of the people. At meetings, our block has also repeatedly proposed to leaders at all levels to have a plan to name streets and house numbers so that people can live in peace and have convenient communication.
Discussing this issue, Vinh Tan ward authorities said that currently in Tan An block, there are 2 unnamed roads, including 1 road to the west of Trang An urban area project and 1 road to the east, both roads are being adjusted by Trang An urban area project and Le Mao resettlement area that Vinh city is investing in, so they are temporarily not named. The block has over 150 households, of which about 40 households are directly affected due to not having street names or house numbers. Currently, the ward has also proposed and recommended to the city to submit to the province to soon name these roads.
