Dozens of households in Vinh City are suffering because of 'houses without numbers and streets without names'.

For many years, whenever visitors from afar came to visit, Mrs. Ho Thi Loi in Tan An block, Vinh Tan ward, would tell them to stop at Tan Phuong bridge over the Vinh River so she could come out and welcome them to her house. The reason for this inconvenience is that her family's house doesn't have a street name or house number, so she doesn't know how to direct people to her home.

Ms. Loi sighed: "We live less than 1 km from the city center, yet there are no street names, alleyways, or house numbers, which disrupts our daily lives. Whenever relatives or friends come to visit, we have to use places like the end of the extended Le Mao street, Trang An apartment complex, Tan Phuong bridge, or the Vinh riverside road to greet them. Sometimes, delivery drivers also face similar awkward situations because they don't know where we live to deliver the goods; sometimes the family has to walk hundreds of meters to receive the package."

This is also the situation for dozens of households in Tan An block, Vinh Tan ward. According to the reporter's observations, there are two roads in the block that currently lack street names and house numbers. These roads, located on the right and left sides of the Tan Phuong bridge over the Vinh River, each stretch for hundreds of meters, have no street names or house numbers. The houses here also show signs of deterioration over time.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phung from Tan An ward said: "We have lived here for decades but have never had a house address. This situation has greatly affected our lives and businesses. Especially in emergency situations, when we need to call an ambulance, taxi, or Grab, we have to waste time making calls and getting directions. Businesses also don't know where to write their address on their signs, which negatively impacts their operations."

It is known that in neighborhood meetings and voter outreach sessions, the issue of the lack of street names and house numbers is always raised by residents. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hau, head of Tan An neighborhood block, said: "Our residents are very upset about this issue, which greatly affects their daily lives and work. At meetings, our block has repeatedly petitioned the leaders at all levels to come up with a plan to name streets and number houses so that residents can live in peace and communicate easily."

Regarding this issue, the Vinh Tan ward authorities stated that currently, there are two unnamed roads in the Tan An area: one west of the Trang An urban development project and one east. Both roads are currently undergoing adjustments due to the Trang An urban development project and the Le Mao resettlement area project being invested in by Vinh City, so they have not been named yet. The area has over 150 households, with approximately 40 directly affected by the lack of street names and house numbers. The ward has already submitted proposals and recommendations to the city, which will then forward them to the province, to expedite the naming of these roads.
