According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Minh commune, among these households, 7 households will have to dismantle their houses and relocate to a new resettlement area.

Luong Minh commune is situated between two hydroelectric power plants, Ban Ve and Nam Non. In recent years, due to the impact of the hydroelectric power plants, numerous houses have been severely damaged by landslides. The households currently having to dismantle their houses are among the 34 households that need to be urgently relocated due to landslides, but funding has not yet been allocated.

According to the operating order, starting at 9:00 AM on July 30th, the Ban Ve Hydropower Plant will release water at a flow rate of 340 m³.3/s up to 1,000 m3/s, including the flow through the spillway and the flow through the two generating units.

Also according to the operating order, the Head of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province ordered this hydropower plant to release water at a flow rate no greater than the inflow rate into the reservoir, in order to reduce flooding downstream from the time the reservoir water level reaches 192.5 meters.

This move comes amid forecasts of widespread heavy rain in Northern and North Central Vietnam and warnings of major flooding on rivers in the area in the coming days. The water inflow into Ban Ve reservoir at 6 PM on July 28th was 1,207 cubic meters.3The water level in the lake at this time is 190.18 meters.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue has sent a document to the downstream districts of the Lam River to proactively respond and minimize damage during the flood release period.
