Thousands of women in Quynh Luu speak out against priest Dang Huu Nam.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 6th, in Son Hai commune, the Women's Union of Quynh Luu district held a protest against the actions of Father Dang Huu Nam.

"It's time to prosecute the extremist priest and restore religious order."

At the ceremony, more than 2,000 people from Son Hai commune, including women, war veterans, youth union members, laborers, and fishermen returning from sea voyages, were present to add their voices in protest against Father Dang Huu Nam - Parish Priest of Phu Yen, An Hoa commune.

Father Nam acted illegally, exploiting children to display banners and slogans distorting the historic victory of April 30, 1975, and preaching slander against the Communist Party of Vietnam and the socialist regime for which heroic martyrs sacrificed so much blood to regain independence and freedom for the nation.

Specifically, Mr. Dang Huu Nam preached to the parishioners that: "April 30th is the day the Vietnamese people lost their freedom, the day when the people had no human rights, the day that brought sorrow to the country, the day that made the country backward and poor, the day when Vietnam lost its opportunity for development, the day that created injustice in every part of the country…".

In response to those immoral words and actions, Ms. Nguyen Thi Menh, a member of the Women's Association of Hamlet 6, Son Hai Commune, expressed her opinion: “Dang Huu Nam's words seriously offend the honor and dignity of millions of Vietnamese people who bravely sacrificed themselves fighting to protect the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, denying the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs. In particular, they seriously offend the contributions and honor of thousands of veterans, wounded soldiers, and sick soldiers throughout the district. I request that Mr. Dang Huu Nam be prosecuted and severely punished.”

Members of the Women's Association and a large number of people in Son Hai commune have passed a resolution protesting against Father Dang Huu Nam, parish priest of Phu Yen, An Hoa commune. They request that the Archbishop of Vinh Diocese and the Dean of Thuan Nghia take measures to prevent Father Dang Huu Nam's illegal actions. They also request that Father Nam strictly abide by the law, refrain from inciting parishioners, and apologize to the people and veterans of Quynh Luu district. Furthermore, they request that the authorities at all levels prosecute and handle Father Dang Huu Nam according to the law.
