In Quynh Thang commune (Quynh Luu district), there are about 50 hectares of citrus fruits grown by locals on the hillsides, harvested during the Tet holiday. The family of Mr. Tran Danh Pho – Dong Xuan hamlet – is one of the pioneering households that brought orange trees to plant experimentally on 4.5 hectares of hillside garden land with the sweet tangerine variety PQ1; Valenxia oranges, and Xa Doai oranges.

According to Mr. Pho, each hectare planted with about 500-600 citrus trees will yield its first harvest after 3 years of care, with a value of approximately 120 million VND per hectare. Starting from the 4th year, each hectare of citrus trees will yield 200-300 million VND, many times more than other crops. Mr. Pho excitedly said: "Currently, tangerines are sold from Tet (Lunar New Year) until January or February, depending on customer demand. The market is currently very good..."

Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Dau Tien Sy in Quynh Luu hamlet, Tan An commune, currently have 120 PQ1 mandarin trees bearing abundant fruit. Mr. Sy said that he and his wife are actively caring for the trees, waiting for the mandarins to ripen to a vibrant yellow color before Tet (Lunar New Year) to sell them on the market. They estimate their orchard will yield about 15 tons of fruit.

Also in Quynh Luu hamlet, Tan An commune, Mr. Ho Ba Tung's family owns 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of land planted with large apple trees. Currently, his family's apple orchard has begun to ripen and is being gradually harvested. However, because there are fewer apples this year than last year, his family is mainly saving them to sell during the Lunar New Year, hoping for a good price.

The apple orchard of Mr. Ho Ba Tung's family began ripening in early December, and they expect to supply the market with about 500 kg of apples for Tet (Lunar New Year), with a selling price of 25,000 - 30,000 VND per kg at the orchard.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Vice Chairman of the Tan An Commune People's Committee, said: "This Tet holiday, local people have several products to supply to the market: chickens, tangerines, apples... In the commune, there are 6 hectares of tangerines and about 2 hectares of apples waiting to be sold at the end of the year, and several chicken farms with a scale of 500-1,500 broiler chickens."

According to estimates from the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, during this Lunar New Year, farmers in Tan Ky district will have several products to supply the market: sugarcane molasses in Tan Huong and Nghia Hanh districts; tangerines, apples, and oranges from approximately 30 hectares in Tan Phu, Tan An, and Ky Son districts… Notably, there are currently over 10 farms and poultry farms in the district raising free-range chickens, with a scale of 1,000 birds or more, estimated to supply tens of tons of chicken meat to the market during this Tet holiday.
