Hundreds injured in devastating floods in Russia
Severe flooding in Russia has forced more than 2,200 people to evacuate. 55 residential areas are still submerged in floodwaters.
At least 744 people, including 74 children, have been injured by severe flooding in the Irkutsk region of Siberia, Russia, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said. The severe flooding has also forced the evacuation of more than 2,200 people. Fifty-five residential areas are still submerged in floodwaters. Many pets and livestock have been left in flooded homes. Russian authorities rescued 12 dogs yesterday.

“We are planning to evacuate pets from flooded homes, and have rescued 12 dogs,” said Valentin Nelyubov, head of the regional emergency services. “So far, many people are still hiding in their attics. We have to bring them food because they refuse to leave.”
A tornado that hit Siberia on June 25 brought heavy rain, and water from mountainous areas caused rivers to overflow and cause widespread flooding.
