RIA Novosti news agency quoted local sources as saying that the two ships Freedom and Endurance docked at the port of Bremerhaven on Sunday, January 8, carrying heavy military equipment – including tanks.
The military equipment will be unloaded from the ship and then transported to Poland by rail and road.
Previously, the cargo ship Resolve docked at Bremerhaven on January 4 with a number of tanks and other military vehicles.
The Pentagon plans to send 87 Abrams M1A1 tanks, 20 Paladin artillery vehicles and 136 Bradley fighting vehicles to Eastern Europe.
In addition, 4,000 US troops will be deployed across Poland, the Baltic states, Bulgaria and Romania, where they remain stationed on a rotational basis.
