A Vietnamese passenger was sentenced to 15 days in prison for stealing a life jacket and three headphones on a flight from Saudi Arabia to Vietnam.

She appeared in the first instance court in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong on November 7 for theft. At the trial, the judge reminded her that stealing a life jacket could affect the lives of others and declared the passenger guilty. She confessed that she had committed the theft out of greed and received a 15-day jail sentence.
This is not the first time a life jacket on a plane has been taken home by a passenger. In 2015, a Chinese passenger appeared in court in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong after taking a life jacket worth 360 HKD (about 1 million VND) from Cathay Pacific. The passenger was convicted and had to pay a 2,000 HKD (nearly 6 million VND) fine.
