Vietnamese passenger jailed for stealing life vest from airplane.
A Vietnamese passenger has been jailed for 15 days for stealing a life vest and three pairs of headphones on a recent flight from Saudi Arabia back to Vietnam.
The passenger was identified as a 35-year-old woman surnamed Nguyen from Hanoi. She was transiting through Hong Kong on her flight from Saudi Arabia to Vietnam on November 6th on a Cathay Pacific flight. Airport staff discovered a life vest and three pairs of headphones in her bag at the security scanner, according to Headline Daily.

She appeared in court at Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong on November 7th for theft. During the trial, the judge reminded her that stealing a life vest could endanger the lives of others and declared her guilty. She confessed to stealing out of greed and received a 15-day prison sentence.
This is not the first time passengers have taken life vests from airplanes home. In 2015, a Chinese passenger was brought to court in Tsuan Wan district, Hong Kong, after taking a Cathay Pacific life vest worth HK$360 (approximately VND 1 million). The passenger was convicted and fined HK$2,000 (nearly VND 6 million).
