Point b, Clause 8, Article 13 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP stipulates: “Driving a vehicle without a complete license plate or with a license plate not in the correct position or not in accordance with regulations; with a license plate whose letters and numbers are unclear or using other materials to paint or stick over the letters and numbers of the license plate; with a license plate that is bent, obscured, or whose letters, numbers, color (of the letters, numbers, background of the license plate), shape, or size (including trailers and semi-trailers) are altered” will be subject to a fine of VND 20,000,000 to VND 26,000,000.

Therefore, according to the above regulations, drivers who cover their license plates will be fined between 20,000,000 and 26,000,000 VND.

In addition to a fine, according to point b, clause 13, Article 13 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, violators will also have 6 points deducted from their driver's license.
