(Baonghean.vn) - To create a lively atmosphere for Tet and the arrival of Spring, many localities in Nam Dan district have organized wrestling competitions. The wrestling matches at the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit always attract players and spectators.
After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the wrestling arenas in the communes of Nam Nghia, Nam Thanh, Nam Xuan, etc., are once again bustling with excitement at the beginning of spring. Photo: Huy Thu
In Nam Nghia commune, wrestling matches are held quite early, starting from the afternoon of the third day of Tet (Lunar New Year), and take place every afternoon from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Although the wrestling arena is quite simple, just tarpaulins spread on sandy ground, it always attracts everyone. Photo: Huy Thu
The wrestlers are young people, teenagers, and middle-aged adults from all over Nam Dan district, especially from areas with developed wrestling movements. Photo: Huy Thu
At wrestling arenas, there are always one or two drums to encourage the wrestlers. Whenever a wrestler executes a beautiful move, the drums beat loudly, and the cheers become boisterous. (Photo: Huy Thư)
Wrestlers move back and forth, constantly trying to find weaknesses in each other's defenses to grab hands, trip legs, or throw their opponent to the ground. The atmosphere in the wrestling ring is therefore sometimes lively, sometimes intensely competitive. Photo: Huy Thu

Besides young and middle-aged people, young children also actively participate in wrestling competitions. These are the "rising stars" of wrestling, continuing the tradition in their localities. Photo: Huy Thu
Many wrestlers who were still hesitant to step into the ring received enthusiastic encouragement from the organizers and spectators. Photo: Huy Thu

Wrestlers compete individually, but sometimes also for the honor of their village, commune, or even clan. Winners of each round receive prizes or money, depending on the locality. In addition to prizes from the organizers, spectators are also free to give rewards to their favorite wrestlers. Photo: Huy Thư

Hoang Son (20 years old) from Nam Nghia commune said that he had just completed his military service and was very excited to participate in the Spring wrestling festival in his hometown. "I was very lucky to win three consecutive matches, and the villagers cheered enthusiastically," Son shared. (Photo: Huy Thu)
