According to the latest CNN polls, in the key southwestern battleground states of Arizona and Nevada, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have nearly equal support rates in the race for the White House.
The poll found that Harris held 48% support among likely voters in Arizona, compared with 47% for Trump. In Nevada, 48% of likely voters backed Trump and 47% backed Harris.

Polls show that voters’ views are largely focused on who would handle top issues better, while on a range of key issues, neither candidate has convinced a significant portion of voters that they are the better choice. Voters in both Arizona and Nevada have a preference for the candidate who is more responsive to voters’ preferences, shares their vision for the country, or would put the country’s interests ahead of their own.

The Nevada poll shows little change in the state’s race since late August. But in Arizona, the new results show a shift in Harris’ favor. The new poll shows Harris improving in Arizona with core Democratic constituencies like women, Latinos and younger voters. The shift is particularly strong among women, who now favor Harris by 16 percentage points, while men continue to favor Trump by a 14-point margin.

Vice President Harris’s lead with women is slightly narrower in Nevada (51% support her, 46% support former President Trump). That narrow margin is largely due to the relatively small gender gap among likely white voters in the state: former President Trump leads Vice President Harris by 15 points among white men (56% to 41%) and by 12 points among white women (54% to 42%).

Even though both candidates made stops in Arizona and Nevada late in the campaign, more than 9 in 10 likely voters in both states said they had already decided who they would support. In both states, 92% said they had already made up their minds about a candidate.
