According to RIA Novosti on January 30, former director of the Israeli intelligence agency Nativ, political scientist Ykov Kedmi said in an interview with Belta news agency that the deployment of just one of Russia's latest Oreshnik complexes in Belarus could bring long-term "calm" to Poland.
“Just the fact that Belarus has received a Russian Oreshnik missile system is enough to keep Poland “quiet and calm” forever, along with its allies,” political scientist Ykov Kedmi commented.
According to Mr. Kedmi, Belarus has never made any negative moves towards its neighbors. However, unlike other countries, Poland escalates the situation in every possible way.
“Poland has only one problem: it is trying to find the same thing in Belarus, that is, to find a missile system like Oreshnik,” Mr. Kedmi added.
In late 2024, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko asked President Vladimir Putin to deploy Russia's latest weapons, including the Oreshnik medium-range missile system, on Belarusian territory. The Russian leader responded that he thought it would be possible to deploy the Oreshnik in the republic in the second half of 2025.
Recently, President Lukasheko said that the latest Oreshnik missiles will be delivered to Belarus from Russia “literally any day”.
