Provincial People's Council supervises: New rural development in Nam Dan is not yet sustainable.

(Baonghean.vn) - The implementation of new rural development criteria lacks sustainability; the mobilization of people's contributions is high, and outstanding debts still occur... These are the issues noted during the monitoring of the implementation of new rural development program criteria by the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council in Nam Hung and Nam Nghia communes, Nam Dan district, on the morning of September 27th.

In Nam Hung commune, the new rural development program has been identified by the Party committee, the government, and the entire political system as a key political task to focus on implementing. During the process of building new rural areas, the locality has paid attention to directing the innovation of production organization methods, promoting diversification of crops and livestock, and increasing income for the people.

Nam Hung also focuses on mobilizing people to participate in labor days for building rural roads, cultural centers, etc., in order to reduce the people's contribution. However, the total amount of people's contributions to building new rural areas remains high, accounting for more than 33%.

Cultural infrastructure has received substantial investment in Nam Hung commune.

The rural transportation system in Nam Hung commune has been invested in quite comprehensively.

Currently, the commune still owes over 5 billion VND in construction funds. To date, the commune has completed 18 out of 19 criteria, but these achievements lack sustainability. Specifically, in 2010 and 2011, the commune met the criteria for the political and social system, but has not met them since 2013; the health criterion was met in 2012 but not in 2013 and 2014; and the environmental criterion was met in 2011 but not in 2012.

Meanwhile, in Nam Nghia commune, despite being recognized as a new-style rural area in 2015, the locality still owes more than 4.2 billion VND.

Through his oversight, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, stated that building new rural areas is a continuous process, and localities need to continue to focus on ensuring the stability and sustainability of the criteria.

Emphasis is placed on promoting economic development, increasing income, and improving the material living standards; this is coupled with enhancing the quality of cultural enjoyment, improving the environment, and ensuring food safety and hygiene for the people. Training and developing the cadre of officials will contribute to building a strong political system; addressing complaints, denunciations, and feedback from the people, and ensuring social order and safety in the area.
