Under pressure to repay debts to loan sharks for his business, P. resorted to selling his kidney and met C., who was in a similar situation. Gradually, the pair started a "business" together, finding people in need of buying or selling kidneys and acting as intermediaries to earn a commission.

The Investigation Police Department of Hoan Kiem District Police has issued a decision to temporarily detain NVC, born in 1980, residing in Phu Tho, and NTP, born in 1988, residing in Hai Phong, on charges of buying and selling human organs and body parts, as stipulated in Article 154 of the Penal Code.

NTP confessed that in 2021, due to business failure and frequent harassment from creditors who were "gangsters" demanding payment and throwing dirty substances at his house, P. went online to find people who wanted to buy kidneys in order to sell them.

In August 2021, P. went to sell a kidney and met NVC, who was in a similar situation. However, due to C.'s poor health, the surgery could not be performed. The two remained in contact afterward. Around the end of 2022, P. and C. reconnected and decided to act as intermediaries in the buying and selling of kidneys.

Both of them found Mr. TVH, born in 1990, residing in Thanh Son district, Phu Tho province, who wanted to sell a kidney, so they contacted him to act as intermediaries. P. instructed Mr. H. to go to Viet Duc Hospital for examination, and the results were good, meeting the criteria, so they agreed to buy a kidney for 420 million VND.

During the waiting period for the kidney transplant, C. and P. will provide food, accommodation, and pay for the kidney donor's health check-up expenses. They will transfer the money to him when he goes into surgery.

Also through social media, C. and P. found a kidney buyer, Ms. L.T.T., born in 1983, residing in Hanoi, who needed a kidney for her sister's transplant. After hospital screening, it was determined that Mr. H.'s kidney was compatible, so C. "negotiated" the sale price of 1 billion VND.

Because they were in similar circumstances, when P. invited C. to participate in brokering kidney sales, C. immediately agreed.

On January 9, 2023, the kidney transplant between Mr. H. and Ms. T. was successfully performed. Afterwards, Ms. T. transferred the money to C.'s bank account. Upon receiving the money, C. paid the kidney seller 420 million VND as initially agreed, and gave P. 275 million VND as a brokerage fee.

Upon receiving the information, the Criminal Investigation Team of Hoan Kiem District Police, in coordination with Hang Bong Ward Police, conducted an investigation, verified the facts, and arrested NVC and NTP. They also continued to investigate and expand the case to identify other individuals involved.
