Patient LV S, 26 years old in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh city, was taken to the emergency room at Xuyen A General Hospital on June 26 with severe abdominal pain.

This patient had a ruptured bladder but did not know it.

From the CT scan results and consultation between the Emergency Department and the Urology Department, the doctors determined that this person had suffered a ruptured bladder in the peritoneum for more than a day.

The patient was quickly operated on to repair a 12cm long bladder tear. Currently, the patient's health is stable.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Tam, Head of the Department of Urology, Xuyen A General Hospital, said that if surgery is not performed promptly, the patient may die due to a ruptured bladder causing urine to leak into the abdominal cavity. This leads to increasingly serious peritonitis and uremia, which can lead to severe infection and death.
