Hillary: 'Colin Powell suggested I use personal email'
(Baonghean.vn)- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told federal investigators that former Secretary of State Colin Powell asked her to use a personal email account. This is information published by the New York Times late on August 18 (US time).
Candidate Hillary Clinton has been dogged for more than a year by questions about her use of a personal email account while serving as America's top diplomat.
The New York Times reported that in information sent to Congress by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Tuesday, there were details of a more than three-hour interview with the agency directly related to Mrs. Clinton's use of personal email.

The newspaper also cited a forthcoming book describing a dinner conversation in which former Secretary of State Colin Powell spoke with Clinton about using private email, except for classified information.
The newspaper also said that Mrs. Clinton asked Mr. Powell in an email from 2009 about how he used his position during the time of former President George W. Bush.
However, Reuters has not been able to independently verify this information. As of late Thursday - August 18, Mrs. Clinton's representative had not responded to this issue.
Colin Powell's office said in a statement that he could not recall the conversation that night. He did recall describing the system and how he used email to Clinton, but the statement did not say that he had asked Clinton to do the same.
“He wrote former Secretary Clinton an email describing how he used his personal email account for classified messages and how to improve communications within the State Department,” the statement said.
The statement also said that Mr. Colin used a secure computer to manage classified information. “Mr. Colin Powell said he had no choice but to use his personal account because the government agency did not have a fully functional email system when he began using it in 2001.”
Republicans have repeatedly pointed to candidate Hillary Clinton's private email scandal as a factor that has made the American public doubt her credibility.
Last month, FBI Director James Comey announced that no criminal charges were filed in the case, but warned the Democratic candidate against carelessly handling classified government information.
