The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, for the term 2026-2031, officially opened this morning in Hanoi. General Secretary and President To Lam attended the Congress.
Attending the Congress were leaders from Nghe An province, including: Nguyen Khac Than - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; and other delegates from the delegation.
This is an important socio-political event, taking place after the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Party and the election of the 16th National Assembly.
The Congress marked the beginning of a new term for the Fatherland Front system after the reorganization of political and social organizations, affirming its core role in consolidating national unity and contributing to the achievement of national development goals by 2030, with a vision to 2045.
General Secretary and President To Lam; Prime Minister Le Minh Hung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; along with current and former leaders of the Party, State, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, attended the Congress.
The Congress was attended by 1,136 delegates representing various classes, strata of the people, ethnic groups, religions, armed forces, overseas Vietnamese, and Front officials at all levels.

The delegate composition ensures diversity: 381 female delegates (33.5%), 492 non-Party members (46.7%), 277 ethnic minority members (24.3%), 218 religious delegates (19.2%), 157 business delegates (13.8%), and 352 full-time Front officials (30.9%).
In terms of qualifications, 899 delegates (79%) have a university degree or higher, including 67 professors, associate professors - PhDs; 111 PhDs, 316 masters, and 405 bachelors.
The youngest delegates, 23 years old, are Ms. Lo Thi Nga (Dien Bien) and Ms. Y Nhi (Quang Ngai). The oldest delegate is Major General Vo So, 97 years old, Chairman of the Vietnam Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Association.
In her opening remarks, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, emphasized that during the past term, the Fatherland Front system has continuously innovated its content and methods of operation, playing a central role in uniting and gathering all strata of the people.
"The Vietnam Fatherland Front has clearly demonstrated its proactive role in coordinating with relevant agencies to propose and refine mechanisms and policies," she said.
She stated that a highlight of the past term was the active and effective participation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the process of drafting and organizing public consultations on the draft Resolution amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Constitution.
In addition, the Front has also made many contributions to the successful organization of the 16th National Assembly elections and the elections of People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, mobilizing the people to participate in patriotic emulation movements, and providing timely support to people affected by natural disasters, storms, and floods, especially the poor and vulnerable, with the spirit of "leaving no one behind".
According to Ms. Hoai, the Congress is taking place in the context of the country entering a new stage of development with many intertwined opportunities and challenges. This is also the first congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front operating under a new model, affirming its position and new methods of operation.
The Congress is tasked with comprehensively assessing the situation of the people, the national unity bloc, and the results of the action program implemented during the past term, while also determining the direction, objectives, and action program for the 2026-2031 term, amending and supplementing the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and electing leaders for the new term through consultation.
